Yeah…

I get it…

It’s Jefferson’s Ocean. 😧

but hear me out…

I agree, the newer batches are gross.  I’ve tried a few at parties.  Wheated, Ryed, whatever.  They are quite disgusting.

This was a Voyage 7 bottle, the first cask strength release.  It sat in my basement for years waiting. Well, let me tell ya, it’s only gotten better since opening, to the point that I couldn’t stop drinking it over the past couple weeks.

I’m kinda sad to see it go so soon!

The cat tried looking for another bottle for me, but alas her gaze was not far enough…

I'm not sure it was the proof, more the one-dimensionality. It was straight flowers...with almost a funeral home vibe from the heavy floral. It did finally open up and offer some more traditional bourbon sweet notes and a bit of spice on the end. Definitely not worth $75.

I did see a 100p store pick last year.

Must be the Q then.

I dig the OESK and the standard OBSV the most.

OK, this isn't a standard pour but it's only a 5 oz glass so it looks more dangerous than it actually is...

The Wife just doesn't understand. I told her that I just had to throw this empty away, hence the last pour.

She countered with "why"?

I got nuthin'...

I had an 11 that was actually pretty good. The salt made it go very well with bacon. What's not to like?

I hear ya.  For me, the high proof on these tend to wear on me.  Yes we can absolutely add water to our heart's content, but sometimes I don't want to bother.

I wish more private pickers would go with the 100 proof PS option.  Those are always excellent and imminently drinkable.  But alas the newbie taters just wouldn't go bonkers for it as much as the barrel proofs.

The 100 proofers were only available in OBSV so less likely to be a draw for those wanting different recipes.

I do agree that are incredibly drinkable!

I wonder if 4R is even offering that as an option anymore.

I have not seen any of those in a couple years.

🤷🏻‍♂️

I think they still are but will defer to someone who know for sure.

I didn't realize that.  I've only seen 100 proof PS out of state at bars while traveling and never have purchased my own bottle.

Georgia Bourbon Society picked an OBSV 100 pr in Nov. 2020, so they were available at least up to then.  I think I did hear that that recipe was again going to be suspended from picks due to dwindling stocks.  But, my feeble mind can’t remember where I might have heard that…even, if in fact, I did…🤪

A gonzo pour of Statesman?.    I can see pouring it a flask and taking it for a walk in the gloaming.

Quilting me tonight is the Hirsch Horizon my son presented me for my birthday.  This erstwhile Bruichladdie of bourbon turned out to a great MGP blend.

Weekend Warrior Takes Out Trio!!!

I actually got quite a bit of Honey Do-ness taken care of along with some football. The fallen trio was well earned and within the last pour or two.

I never quite warmed up to the Statesman & won't get another soon.

I liked the last 3rd of the 1910 and will probably try again as that craving hits.

While not totally enamored with the Henry Mac, I did enjoy the last half of the bottle and will add to the bunker if stumbled upon...

Finished 3 bottles yesterday.    Friends invited us over to watch the Steelers/Bengals game so, to have a little bourbon tasting,  I brought some Blanton's, along with Bakers and a Belle Meade Reserve.  He and I both enjoyed the day, despite the Black and Gold falling hard.   Bakers and Belle Meade were similar, being close in proof.    Gotta pay a little more attention to that to give a little more contrast in the sips.

And he did like the Blanton's!!!!

We're back to the days of the "Patsies" - where's all those paper bags the wife threw out?  Finished off  a 750ml of Freezer FRYL and refilled it from another handle.  Whew.   🤬

Oh, pleeeeeeeease! You Steelers and Pats fans have nothing to worry about. Try being a Giants fan and season ticket holder and having to watch that crap for the past 4 - 5 years.. Worst record in NFL. On top of that, listening to the idiot fans 🤬calling idiotic plays like Joe Judge and Jason Garrett can hear them and need their help.  Hey, Artie in section 327, please come down and call our plays next game. 🤮

Co-ed flag football would be more interesting. And yet I keep showing up and watching expecting a different outcome.  Isn’t there something about the definition of insanity here?

I wouldn't have expected a supermarket chain liquor buyer to make a good private barrel selection but this was really good.  And, sold at no mark up over the regular BT

Healthy pour bottle kill. Bit my tongue during dinner and I’m feeling it now.
