Yes. That is if you were looking for them about 5 years ago or so.

So technically a couple days late but had my first taste of OFBB 2018 on Monday at a bar. (That's what the menu said at least).

I've always been an OFBB fan even when it wasn't universally liked as well at the PVW, BTAC, and 4R LE's.

It's been very difficult to get in these parts ever since about 2017 or so I have a wide gap in my bunker on these.

All this to say that the '18 was just OK. I can honestly say that I think the current version of OF100 suits my palate better.

Seems like I won't be missing this one anymore.

Is this it or is it something else?

Last night was a very odd night.  I don't really drink during the week for several reasons.  I usually keep it to Friday/Saturday night.  I also have aggressively avoided "bar hopping" for the last 15 years or so.  I also tend to eat early because I get older I don't sleep well on a full stomach.

Well, we started with a going away happy hour for coworker last night.  Two Eagle Rares there.  Then to another bar with a work buddy where I had a double Yellow Spot while waiting for seats at another bar where we ate dinner late.   Dinner at the third (I think) bar was beyond expectation.  It's a French place so I had a great Cab Franc with dinner instead of more whiskey.

Had some Blade and Bow last night.  I have grown to really like this one. I am going to have to get another bottle soon.

Tonight is “Thirsty Thursday”, there isn’t even a question that there will be cocktails involved!

Depends on the price.  In my area, it was typically around $50 when available.  I notice a similar OE bottle at Barrel Proof for the same price but it is only 4 years old.

I haven't seen the OE7 BP in a while.  But, I really enjoyed the couple of bottles I had.

Just loving on the EW 1783 again, tonight.  Since my first bottle pick up a couple of months ago, I consistently keep being drawn back to it over most others as a daily drinker.  Heaven Hill knocked it out of the park with their upgrades of the whiskey and packaging, of this label.

My Bourbon of the year for 2021.

I haven't had an OFBB in many years.  The last one I bought was $39.99 if that tells you anything.  I tried two different years.  I found them just OK.  It seemed like they were going for this rather dry profile.  Everything else muted, but dry.  Regular Old Forester ("Signature" at the time) was a much more enjoyable pour for me.

Took a few days off and decided to ease back in with a couple pours of JB Black, of all things.

I don’t think I’d had a pour of this in what….eight or nine months? Not too shabby tonight. 86 proof. Nice and sweet, peanuty without being obnoxious about it. It’s been a good one to just kinda hang out, live life and not think about what I’m drinking too much.

Wow! My thoughts exactly Paul. Pretty much the same experience also. I had a couple many years ago that were just meh. IIRC, the first one cost $38.99, and the second one was $44.99 and wasn’t as good as the first. The next year the price went up to $49.99. I passed back then, and have every since. 😐

I find myself reaching for this more than anything else these days as well.  I also opened a HMcK10 last night, and I have to say, I think I preferred the 1783 (even though I usually prefer older and / or oakier bourbons.)

Organization of your words was very important.  When I first read your post, I thought is said I gave the kids some FR SB and now they are down.  😜

OFBB is one that I have never had.  I seem to recall it on the shelves years ago but I never bought one.  When I was interested, it wasn't to be found.  Now, it is a unicorn and overpriced compared to what it was when I saw it on the shelves.

3 parts RR10 and 2 parts WTRB come to ~100.72 proof. So basically this is an easily repeatable 101 proof with a little more age than standard WT101. Give it a chance if youre so inclined. Might as well put some good stuff in that fantasy bottle!

Finishing a bottle of Penelope BP.  I picked up two bottles when I found it several months back and will set the second aside for now.  Too many other bottles in the "bunker" to learn about.  I do like barrel proof offerings..

Trying another pour of Woodinville that I purchased at the end of October.  I enjoyed the initial pour as it took be back to my childhood hints of tobacco and leather yet a sweetness of cherry cola.

Three weeks open and the second pour is reminiscent of the first one.  Maybe more Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb than cherry cola.  The finish is medium to long.  Not sure of the age but this is a really good whiskey.

You hated it too? I will admit, the neck pour made me want to dump the rest of the bottle but after I came back to it a couple months later, I suppose it's drinkable.
