Having an old standby - OGD B.I.B. (always somewhere in the line up).

Me too.  From a 1 liter a preferred purveyor found for me during the current shortage in my area.

I wish I could join you but in my time zone I watch while drinking coffee.

And what a heck of a race today.

Well, in my time zone, coffee is the appropriate beverage also. But many times I record practice, qualification and race to watch later in the day or evening with Ms Wedelstaedt. She is a big fan of Red Bull Racing and their drivers. I’ve have followed F1 since the mid eighties, so it is fun to watch the races through “newer” eyes. Anyway, the side beney is, if we watch in the evening, I get a glass of whiskey to enjoy along with the company. :-))

Yes, the race was something.  Nice to see a race that  “wasn’t just follow the leader,” as has been customary for several seasons.

Cheers

so you get the red apple on the nose and pallet, but you can tell it is young as it has a bite to it.  Overall it is not bad and different from the standard bourbon profile.  I aqm ok with buyign it to try, but wouldn't buy another bottle.

Well into a bottle of JD Bonded.  Really liking it as a step up from regular Jack.  Didn’t care for the Triple Mash at all, but this is good.  I’ll repeat the purchase.

I liked the bonder version as well.  Killed off a liter bottle pretty quick.  I have a bottle of the Triple Mash but haven't opened that one yet.  It sounds really interesting but I know that sometimes things don't turn out the way one hopes.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Starting the afternoon off with my favorite cup and some good old Rock Hill Farms in it.

Starting the weekend with a JD SiB Rye. I've been rationing this SP for months because I don't see myself getting another this good, AND at retail. WOW it's amazing and never disappoints. Will be tough to find a worthy follow up. Salute'

Last year I did a Stagg Jr. pick with my local. The pick was done in my dining room. The store owner left the sample bottles with me.

Today is sample kill day. Birthday weekend continues!

Poured some KC SB 120p and put it in the freezer with one cube before dinner.

It’s quickly becoming a fantastic dessert!

Installed four new three-prong outlets in the living room today (and didn't even burn down the house). Rewarded self by watching the Brewers lose to the Reds on national TV.  Currently consoling slightly aggravated self by consuming a healthy pour of Buffalo Trace.  FRSB is giving me a look right now, though. I better go see what that's about.

Had a wee pour of a paper label OF86. Usually it sings, alas not tonight. I’ll have to come up with something, I bet I am up to the task. 😁

Cheers

Had OF Birthday & Sib for the first time at the distillery yesterday.  Liked them both quite a lot, The Boy and I both preferred the SiB.  Had the 117 Series Angel's Share at Evergreen- and that was fantastic.

Tried Blantons SiB, son had heard much about it.

Then the OF Angel's Share.

Then their store pick of Rebel Cask Strength (Sweet, smooth for its proof, still harsh on the finish)

Blue Run 12 year because someone tried it and really liked it - to my surprise it was very good, second favorite of the lot

Basil Hayden 10y, bought for us, liked it much more than their regular bottle

Opened a the Five Trails Whiskey Coors put out that we saw at Costco.  Surprisingly good for something so young.

Bought a bottle of the regular Seagrass rye.  Did not like it.  I like sweet, but not aspartane.  Maybe it'll grow on me, seems unlikely.

Sometimes it's the most simple things that soothe your soul..... Evenings like this are rare enough in Ireland, sitting in the August sun at 19:30 sipping bourbon (basic, Jim Beam) listening to burning heart, survivor, in my own company.

Nice pic Jess. Glad you enjoyed your evening. 👍 On a different note, I’ve been meaning to ask you a question. How are things going regarding your Master’s Program? Well I hope. 🤞

Biba! Joe
