This forum has saved me from really any bad bottle.

My one exception was Jefferson’s small batch which I bought before joining here. Not a drain pour by any means, but definitely not good.

The 5 good years I have so far and probably 100 or so good bottles are all thanks to this site.

I haven't actually dumped a bottle.  Although I did have one that came mighty close from a craft distiller in MI.  I usually find something to do with it if it is not good but that one was like drinking liquid lumber.  Fortunately, it was only a 375.

There is one of my favorite local stores that does some single barrel selections.  A couple years ago, they did a barrel of Jefferson's Presidential Reserve, and gave me a sample pour in the store.  😬  It was not good at all.  It tasted like well liquor from a dive bar.  I thanked them, because they are nice people.  I would have been mad as hell if I had bought a bottle of that.

Not normally a drain pour, but I had to do it to a brand new bottle of Whistlepig 12 Rye on the weekend.  The cork was loose when I opened it, and it was well and truly tainted.  I couldn't even redeem it with coke :(

My only drain pour to date was something awful called "Baller",  an American single malt that smacked of mouth-watering  linoleum.   Even the worst bourbons I've had could be redeemed via a solera bottle, but not that one.

Jolly good for the kid.

Interesting on AMND.  Most people swear by it, not at it.  I have not tried it, ryes are an occasional thing for me.

I've talked to more people who dislike IB port than like it.

The fill level on the two bottles on the right look suspect.  You might want to check the corks. 😀

How else was I going to nose/taste them? The two sealed bottles had siblings which have already been dumped.

Same.

I love J. Bowman whiskey, but not the finished stuff, (IB).

To be fair I don't care for whiskey finished in wine barrels.

I have a son in college at Louisiana Tech. I have been giving him my drain pours for a few years now. They (he and his roommates) just mix it with Coke and Sprite and think it’s a great drink. I actually just gave him a Jeffersons store pic yesterday that was just awful, he doesn’t care.

Sorry for your loss. Please note that these went to a good home and not down the drain.

It’s not. Gifting bottles to the guy managing the allocated bottles is a calculated gamble.

in my neck o the the woods, VOB of any sort is non-existent. I have brought bottles of VOB100 back from the midwest and given it to guys at area stores. they were stoked. Certainly not hurting my chances at their allocations

To me, Old Tub was just ok.  I tried it but have no plans to buy another bottle.  In that price range, I'd much rather have Evan Williams BiB or Wild Turkey 101.

I paid $16.00 for a couple bottles.  Gave one away and kept one.  It's not bad, but definitely worth $16.00.

I will not replace it when it's gone.

It's a cool label, but tastes like rather young Beam product, nothing special.  One and done for me.  Stick with the OGD.
