Having my first taste of a newly opened Buffalo Trace.  Spectacular.  I love the standard BT, and would go as far to say it is my desert island bourbon because I could drink it, and only it…every day…with Ginger and Mary Anne…🤪. This bottle has in spades what I love about it.  That rich and chewy earthiness that accompanies, while balancing, those sweet caramel and turbinado sugar notes.  When a BT has this, it is damn near perfect whiskey for me.

A bit of OWA while preparing Baked lemon and butter cod.  I say bit, because this one is tossing up huge Bit-o-Honey candy notes, tonight.

I've got a bottle of this SW from the 60's in the bunker - one of my greatest finds of all time - seeing the label jogged my memory as I haven't thought about it in a while - not sure when it'll get opened, but glad you're enjoying yours!!

Early desert?

Dessert, yes.  Early, no.  Weekdays I tend to have my 2 oz at 4 pm.  Any later and it tends to affect my sleep, and not in a good way.

Weekends are another matter.  Then sleep is for the weak.

Didn't quite make it to 4 pm.  Lots of work to do through Sunday night.  Messy desk, weird schedule.

Needs must when the devil drives.

She's obviously just trying to get you drunk.

Bonded Friday...

I'm with you on that.

Chattanooga BiB, the Spring 2017 release.  I'm a big fan of their 111 and their barrel picks.  But I wasn't such a big fan of this BiB when I first opened it.  It seems to have a unique (almost odd) note of what I can only describe as a faint hint of  jalepeno pepper on the finish.  But tonight that note is in the background and I'm able to appreciate all the other interesting flavor notes this whiskey is giving.  It's an interesting pour, unlike any other bourbon or rye in my bar, and I'm really digging it right now.  It's addictive 🤷‍♂️

Killed a bottle of WTR101, probably 3 ounces.  Follow up by a slightly smaller pour of KCSiB 120 store selection. It is actually pretty good.  They had more for $41.99 so I might need a backup bottle.

Although that used to be common, it has been a long time since I've seen that good of a price on KCSiB pick.  Yeah you might need to get a backup bottle, just saying.

Started with some Russell's Reserve SB and now sipping on some John J Bowman SB...I guess it was some unintentional single barrel action tonight...ha ha

Hillrock Solera Aged Bourbon (Barrel #50) to celebrate my good fortune with the latest Unicorn purchase and remember the good times with Dave Pickerell when we were first picking Single Barrels for TW a little more than a decade ago.   😆

I gotta say,  Booker's and chocolate chip cookies are fabulous.   Sipping a Bardstown Batch and sucking the choc pipe while enjoying the football on Eagles Bye Week.

Having a Blade & Bow after dinner.  This was left at the house after a party this past summer. I can’t remember who brought it over.
I’m on the fence on this.  We’ll see how the night goes.

Went to dinner with the family this evening.  The restaurant has a decent bourbon selection (e.g., Bookers, Bakers, HMcK10).  I asked how much a pour of Bakers was.  The bartender told me $23 for a single pour, $26 for a double.  I told her, I would just take the second pour.  😀 She told me it didn't work that way. 🙁

I opted for a KC9 double.  She was generous to make up for the Bakers! 🙂

Home now and staying on the KC train with KCSiB.
