Kepler
I didn't post much but my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day pours were ORVW, MM101, Old Elk Double Wheat, HW Midwinter, and '17 GTS. Tonight I'm starting by going back to the Old Elk DW and it's really nice.
TBoner
Four Roses Single Barrel I didn’t try this stuff for the longest time. Couldn’t tell you why It’s now sort of slotted in for me where Russell’s Reserve 10/101 did back in the day: spice, leather, dark fruit, and enough extra age relative to my daily pours that it feels different and special without busting my budget.

Rushmore of regularly available bourbons.

Well done! I've been wanting something like this for a long time and boy is it worth it. I'd do the method with the cooler that requires you to "cut" the cubes after (the one that someone posted a youtube video of that @smokinjoe had success with) but I don't have a big enough freezer so this works great.

Anwalt
Thanks to one of you, tried some samples with The Boy last evening. Hancock - Liked it. Parker Curacao (2nd time this week!) - Distinct. Liked it quite a bit. Though I suspect that given just how strong the Curacao finish is, one needn't use a super-premium bourbon as a base. Van Winkle, Lot B - Good, but not wow. I do not understand. I have some samples of my own to send once Southwest lets me back into PR.
apt43bear
Friends and I had a bourbon (and some rye) gathering with a mix of bourbon and non-bourbon drinkers. A nice mix of different bourbons (distilleries, mashbills, proof level, etc.). A fun compare and contrast exercise though after awhile there was a bit of palette fatigue haha. The favorites of the evening were ECBP B520, EH Taylor Single Barrel, Russell Reserve store pick, and surprisingly the Blantons (both by the bourbon and non-bourbon drinkers) do feel that when get a good Blanton’s barrel, it can really hit on all cylinders. Did a semi blind at some point in the night with some of the non high proof ones and Blantons still came out as a favorite.

ThomasGazelle
Local store (sketchy tobacco/liquor store that used to be a gas station)had a sale on 12/17 and were selling everything for “.1 cent over cost” for customer appreciation day. I don’t know how accurate the pricing was but i do know that i walked out with this for $48.52! I regret only buying one but was showing Christmas spending restraint. It was selling for $72 at the Kroger up the street at the time. i opened it today to kick off NYE at home and WOW, this is great stuff! By far my favorite of the WFS. Up until that day i had never been in that store, literally a hole in the wall and a scary one at that, but i will be making it there on a regular basis from now on.

ThomasGazelle
I don’t normally mix pours in the span of one night but am mixing it up this NYE. When asked for under the radar recommendations, i sometimes hesitate to let this cat out if the bag, because for $21 it is so hard to beat and Heaven forbid it start disappearing from the shelves! My goodwill toward my fellow man/woman normally wins out though and I tell people about it. There was a time in mid-late summer when i had a tough time finding it but i think that was a glass bottle issue more than anything else.
mbroo5880i
KC9 and OFR 100 while hanging out with the family. We no longer go out on NYE. It is safer at home. My wife is starting to pick up bourbon, albeit in a cocktail, as her preferred adult beverage. She has enjoyed an Old Fashioned and Manhattan over the past few days.
markandrex
Staying in with the wife also. Nursing a WLW before we switch over to champagne around 10. The advantage of Central time zone is we can see the ball drop and be in bed by 11:30, maybe.
MM818
Drinking FR SBS out of a flask. It’s all vanilla. Cold, wet day in the Sierra. Had to dig my truck out of a snow bank with a backcountry ski shovel. Brutal. Feet and hands still numb.

JCwhammie
A good buddy of mine gave me this sample of EHT BP a few months ago. I'm pretty sure it says 130.3 proof. I'm too lazy to look up which batch it is . This is outstanding.

Double C's
I've been hitting my bottle of OF 86 proof pretty hard tonight. Been a busy day with work stuff and working on the house. I did manage to sneak away for a bit and stop by one of my stores to pick up their single barrel pick of Ben Holladay. Looking forward to opening this bottle soon.
TBoner
Opened a helluva store pick of KC SiB tonight. First one I’ve seen in a while that exceeds 10 years. Toffee and caramel, of course, but also a peach note I haven’t hit too often in KC. Great stuff.
