Evening, all - new to this forum, but no stranger to bourbon. I'm one glass into a new bottle of Knob Creek 9yr. and relaxing this evening.

Well, then!   Welcome to "The Board"!   Enjoy!

Went to Whisky Wonderland yesterday. My first time there; apparently this bar does these events throughout the year for things called "tequila". "vodka," and "rum," whatever those are, as well as for whiskey every winter.  I'm doing (mostly) dry January so I mostly tasted and spit but I got to try Abasolo (Mexican whiskey), Heaven Hill (just EC Rye because I already had everything else they had in my cabinet), Old Forester Whiskey Row (just 1910 because it had been a while and I already knew all the expressions), a few Starward expressions including a couple of barrel picks (confirming single malts are not my jam), High West American Prairie, a couple from Nelson's Green Brier, a couple from a local craft distillery (not quite ready for prime time), a couple of Japanese whiskeys (did I mention that single malts are not my jam?), and Angel's Envy Rye,  a cask-strength bourbon SiB, and a lovely cocktail made with their rye and chocolate bitters and garnished with a whiskey infused marshmallow.

Mystery Decanter...

Did the honeydew construction thing today (encased a couple windows) and didn't know what I wanted, but knew I needed a pour or two. (or 3, maybe 4) Went with my decanter which I truly didn't know what was at hand. War is hell & oldnest is a pisser...

The classic flavors to include heavy caramel & slight oak told me it was KC9. How can you lose???

Just didn’t want him to get home from the store and be disappointed in his daydream.

That one impresses when you least expect it.  If I hadn't already poured this WT101...

Nothing. I'm doing a moist January so no alcohol during the week. I actually just started this week and will go to mid Feb because I had a work trip last week and there was no escaping wine and whiskey.

I will be joining you all tomorrow night!

Per the rules of moist January I can now partake because it's the weekend! Cracked one of the RRSiB's that arrived this week.

WTH is moist January?  You eating Hostess Twinkies again?  My weekend usually starts on Monday.  Sometimes Tuesday if I am still hungover from the weekend.  JK, I have been working on reducing weekday pours to 4 nights each week. 😀

Watching the Eagles thrash the NYG.  Sorry @Kjbarth.  Blue is really blue tonight.  As a Colts fan, I was spared the playoffs this year.  Started with a heavy swill of OF Rye to kill the bottle (I did recycle the paper bag) followed by a nice pour of KC SiB store pick.  I saved enough in the KC bottle for tomorrow's football games.  That will make two paper bags recycled in one week.  I bet I get a green ribbon or something. 😀
