Enjoying some 10 year 95/5 MGP single barrel tonight.

This one leans towards the herbal side with lots of pepper and some oak mixed in.

Its subtle complexity is truly its charm.

I’ve had a decent amount of blended older MGP and I love it, but in this case the fun is in its individuality.

No regrets on having a backup of this.

I love it.  This is from the squat rectangular bottle.  Great MGP 95/5 juice.  I still find them every now and again. A friend in the NYC area seems to have regular access.

Yep - cask strength Woodinville rye is fantastic.

Now this is something I need to keep an eye out for.

Who is smashed?  You or the kitty?  MGP does rye like no other distillery.

I’ve been sipping on a Prideful Goat rye. 6yr old MGP. It is pretty typical for MGP.  Good enough, but I will not be putting down the cash for another bottle.

Happy fRYEday.

New Riff rye to restock as its predecessor was empty. Looking forward to trying a few CS versions on the spring trip.

This one has me curious. I haven't seen one around here yet so maybe on a road trip I'll come across one. The rye in CS form is here but I haven't seen any ryes and I'd prefer rye.

I ran across Pikesville Rye today at a heavily trafficked store.  They had several bottles for $39.99.  Honestly, I doubt they will sell out.

Didn't purchase but passed.  Not because I don't like it but I have other planned purchases.

  • 2 weeks later...

I drank bourbon this evening.  But I had to squeeze in a Fryeday pour.

WT Rare Breed Rye.  That lemon note is singing tonight, in a good way!  Tasty stuff.

Having a midday pour of the maryland heritage series mt Vernon. Its lovely out this afternoon, just a  bit chilly, so perfect weather for a sit on the back porch.

Wild Turkey Rye.  Green on the label and it’s bird.  Must be a sign for the Eagles…

The matching glass is a pure coincidence. I reached into the drawer and grabbed one for this pour.

Maybe it's a sign?  For what, I don't know. 🤣20230212_213020.thumb.jpg.3cb06e2660d50992619307f7c9eaee05.jpg

Must have!

It was one of, (several), pours that day/night for the Super Bowl.    I hit two blocks in the pool for $875.00 😁

Posted a response on the "What foreign whiskey  . . ."  thread RE: Royal Crown which included what I was REALLY drinking.  It was/is Cedar Ridge BIB SmB Release 2, Bottle 2469.  CR is a distiller in Swisher, Iowa.  THIS was a Christmas gift from a U. of Iowa alum/relative-in-law.  I do not seek out micro distillers any more - too many bunker clunkers - but this is FAR from a shelf turd.  The ABSENCE of a mint overtone makes it a nice change from the MGP high ryes, and it is far enough away from the "barely rye" 51% rye, 45% corn, 4% barley mash bills to be unique.

I don't drink most ryes neat.  THIS one, I do.
