I was out today with some friends in Bardstown and Clermont.  Definitely a good day.  The HHSS is a 9 yr. malted.

Grabbed both of those a week ago as well. Haven't tried them yet other than the taste of the SS during the tasting.

We are back in KY till next Mon. Stopped in Indiana on the way for a bottle to enjoy during our stay and ended with two. 🤷‍♂️

Okay, so there was this one weird week at bourbon camp. 🤯 I decided to go back and grab a couple more HH 7 BIB’s for $49.98.  One already has a new home with a buddy in our local group. Another one may also be going to a new home. Got’s to do some checking. 😉 Anyway, I just got my regular email from Binny’s. Guess what? Timing is everything I guess. Mine mostly sucks. 🤷🏼

Well…….. a guy in our group bought a Big House a while back. Had a taste last night. So-So. Not great, but doesn’t suck. Serviceable for $15.00 IMHO. 😐

Our local...rhymes with Twig Ted...tells me I can get it for $42.29 because I am a VIP.  I guess I should buy one.  I dunno because maybe @fishnbowljoe says it was good enough to buy not one, not two, not three, but four...even though two might be rehomed.  Friends don't rehome bourbon to friends unless they think their friend might enjoy it.

Just goofing, I will grab one just to give it a go but only because @fishnbowljoe told me "Only p...ies, pass on this s..t on the cheap." 😀 Well, maybe not in those exact words.  😜  I also heard "Some may like Big House.  But, hey, it at $15 what do you expect?" 😀

To quote Walter Cronkite, “And that’s the way it is.” This is the fun part of SB. Kinda the same thing in our small local group. Like the sign on my liquor cabinet says……….

Don't feel bad. I just read a social media post that says a local LS got this in for $49.99, and I know exactly where I'll be stopping on the way home from work tomorrow night. Sure, I could drive to Illinois and get it for $10 less, but with gas prices the way they are, this becomes an exercise in futility.

Finally managed to get some of the ECBP C923. 4 at $75 each. I will not have my hot little hands on them until mid-November.

Also got a few WTRB NCF 1 liters flying out of Santiago de Chile. The price went up to $69 USD which is double what I paid for the regular version at 750 ml.

I've never bought duty-free flying into the US. A few lessons learned:

1) Once you are in the States, you have to put it in your luggage. You cannot continue to "carry it on". They did not check the weight on my bags when they re-checked them after customs. I had enough space and padding, so that was a happy coincidence. I'll take such matters into account on future trips.

2) Some countries (e.g., Chile, Argentina) allow you to buy duty-free on the way in (albeit with a reduced selection compared to on the way out) as well as on the way out. That presents some opportunities.

3) If you want the box, ask for it at the cash register. The two bottles I bought with boxes in Chile showed up without them on the flight. I inquired. I was told "you have to ask for the boxes and carry them separately". So the bottles traveled nekkid, lesson learned.

I have to stop going to Ky!!  Here so some of the fam can go to a music festival. If I can Uber them to the festival, they can get up and get the bottle of the day for me.

My little road trip buddy is keeping an eye on me. ❤️

Just kidding(sort of) 😁  I don't think I've ever looked forward to a release like I am for this one.

my area is usually slow to receive the new batches. Hopefully I can track down one or two of these when they show up.

Got 6 Gold and 6 SFTB from My Guy in Not Paris, 125E and 150E, respectively. It's waiting for me and my mules (also known as "family" to muggles) in January/February. Given that Yanks or Sellers to Yanks scoop up these and other bottles, I'm finding that stumbling on them while in France is increasingly rare and a matter of luck, especially W12 & SFTB. And Paris - fuggetaboutit. With the exception of a dusty old JD Silver label SiB, I've gotten nothing there. The MdW drops are gone in days. I am thankful that My Guy in Not Paris continues to save the above & the like for me.

The SFTB is low-proof at 120.2. I'm actually looking forward to it. I think I prefer lower-proof SFTB to higher-proof, still making up my mind on that one. Sample sizes will continue to build so I can make up my mind. Because Science.

I held a billiard party today with the entrance fee being a bottle of bourbon or rye.  If you won you game it was “your pick” of bottle with a “bad Santa” steal if desired.  When the dust settled, I ended up these.

That's some sage advice...which is another good reason to fly nonstop 😉

This stuff is all the rage with the cheap bastard "in crowd."  It's from Camp Nelson F, so maybe some of that Russel's Single Rickhouse magic wore off on it.  Either way, it's likely to be $45 well spent.  Gonna just close my eyes and pretend...

Have you had any of the CN F Russell’s picks circa 2018? Just wondering if this compares favorably? Those were so good.

No, but I heard this year's Single Rickhouse were from CNF.  Nothing special so far about this particular bottle of KS, but a boy can always dream.

A doctors appointment this morning then swung by a distributor party at my local LS.  I had the chance to taste the 2XO but it was 1000 am.  I’m not certain my palate was awake yet.  It was enjoyable and I enjoy DD’s blends.  The other, I owe my LS manager again.
Joe, I’m not cert@in but is this one of your “dippers” efforts?  A little heavy to one side with two long runs.

Not sure. My gal usually has one extra long tendril down the back of a bottle. I must say that I appreciate you keeping an eye out for her “signature” though  @markandrex.  First it was “Sarah” bottles of Smooth Ambler. Now it’s “ms mystery dipper” at MM. 😎
