Celebrated a friend's 60th birthday last night and he cracked open the Al Young. Still the best nose on a bourbon EVER.

That 1955ish Old Fitz was a big surprise.  It was outstanding.

I got it from Target.  The brand name is Houdini clear ice spheres tray.  It makes four spheres in a row.

There is a Target in Avon...nothing notta why the f..k stop there.  There is a Target in Carmel.  Top tier bourbon, store picks and nice liquor supplies.   WTF.  Carmel and Greenwood get everything.  Avon gets a second Chic-Fil-A and another drive through coffee shop. 😜

Done with Pikesville x2 while watching HomeTown.  On to ECBP (final pour of the night) while watching Who's Feeding Phil?  One of the best shows on Netflix.

The Target in Greenwood has a nice selection of kitchen and bar tools, but I wouldn't bother to go there shopping for booze.

At least once per year, I go pick up an Evan Williams black.  And, I am always rewarded with an inexpensive but well done bourbon.  Today was that day, and the classic and well done bourbon notes that it provides (caramel, char/smoke, some sweetness, oak, nice mouthfeel), and the memories of my early bourbon days, again proves its quality.  When I see a picture of a bourbon barrel being dumped from any distillery, it makes my mouth water, and this whiskey is what I taste in my imagination.  It’s what I am tasting now. I often say that EW Black is the bar that is set for my evaluation of any craft effort.  Few of those have reached it, and as I sip it now, I wonder if I have set the bar too high.   I really need to have this around on a more regular basis.

Well said Joe, your EW is my WT101 ( though I have a great deal of  WT on hand, always) but the spirit as it relates to the spirit is right there!!

Yeah, still haven't gotten there.  By the time I watch this show, I will have the added benefit of laughing at all the antiquated cultural references.  Or maybe that's already the case.

Tonight's indulgence was a hefty pour of regular old Larceny followed up by some Bib and Tucker that the well-meaning son in law got for me as a Christmas gift.  Two very nondescript bourbons that neither offended nor excited.  It is Monday, after all.

I decided I needed a different pour this evening. Oft overlooked, but sitting on my shelf right in front of me, my HH BIB Blend. I had a couple of nice pours of it this evening. The reason I needed a different pour? A young man I help coach in the special needs/autism bowling program at my local bowling alley had a night to remember. Even with a not so good game, he averaged  216.5  over four games of bowling. His scores were 241, 164, 235, and 226. It was unbelievable. Bowlers always cheer each other on, and tonight was no different. Somehow his fellow bowlers knew Dylan was having a special night. Bowlers, parents and us coaches, all cheered him on. When all was said and done, there were smiles, high fives, hugs, and a few watery eyes. Times like this is why I do what I do.

Man, you are not kidding. Things have changed quickly. And mostly not to my liking. "Get off my lawn!".

So far the series deserves its accolades - and I'm just on S1E3, which is supposed to be "slow".

Stellum Persaus store pick.  Nice bottle.  I will try to replace it if they have any left.  They were clearing them out at 40% off so they may be all gone.
