Last night I had started off with a pour of Handy, then Switched to baby Saz. Because the two are sort of the same whiskey I poured the first of the Saz into that little was left of the Handy. That turned out to be a most excellent glass. I don't Gillmanize, because I don't trust myself, but its kinda hard to screw up a BabySaz/Handy blend.

....nearly finished the bottle of Baby Saz last night. A pre- breakfast hair of the dog did that this morning.

I don't think I will have anything to drink for a day or two.

Alright, Oscar, cut to the chase !!!! Is it worth the price. (don't steer a bird wrong !!)

OK Scott, hit the link above for John Hansell's review of PHC2008.

It is very hard for me to recommend something like this at this high a price.

BTW I got it for $189.00 in KY.

All those flavors and aromas that Hansell describes are there.

You have to sip it slow and take some air in with it.

The finish is maybe a little to weak.

The big thing that impress' me the most is the lack of wood, at 27yo it is incredible.

Cowdery once said about Parker Beam's taste in bourbon is that he likes it dense.

This one is not as dense as the 2007PHC.

One thing that I do not like about this year's release is that it came in at 96prf.

I got four bottles of the 2007PHC at 122.6prf at about 42% cheaper in price.

I wish they would have let us have the 2008 at barrel proof.

But the funny thing about it is that I cut last year's down to 98prf and liked it best that way, so maybe Parker did to.

Did I answer your question?

I would definatly get a bottle and split it 4 ways with 3 friends, you should try it.

I'm enjoying a pour and a half of 2008 William Larue Weller to celebrate

Election Night 2008 and the end of having to watch and hear all those political commercials.

How is the 2008 WLW? (I haven't cracked mine open yet.)

A little Lot B to start. Now, as I'm watching the 'ol alma mater Ball State lay the wood to No. Ill, I dug around the fridge and pulled out the favorite college beer back in the day...Little Kings Cream Ale. Brings back some memories. I think I'll go put on two Polos, turn the collars up, and fire up some Duran Duran and Billy Squier...Totally!! :D

Old Charter Proprietor's Reserve Louisville AKA the slope shoulder bottle, neat.

It has been a while since I've had some OC.

The last was the new 101, only about 6 months ago but I can't rememeber much about it,....oh yes I do, I didn't like it.

I must have been supressing it.

Before that I did an OCPR(current Frankfort) vs. WLWeller Centennial bottle comparision.

I was heavily influenced by threads on this board by SB.com members who debated these two bourbons.

Influenced not by their opinions of the bourbons, but influenced that such a debate was taking place.

So I got one of each,.... OK, the WLWC blew me away but I am here today to talk about OCPRL'ville.

Early in my search I did however go thru an OC 10 and 12yo, I thought they were great.

But I moved away to other things.

Today's pour of this 13yo OCPR is truley satisfying, such a long, long finish, it never ends.

It has a nose that ranks with almost any of the BTACs.

Mid-palate? Sweet corn husk, this brings back taste memories from the 10 and 12yo.

So glad I scored some.

A Labatt's Classic to start. This is a lager that is "brewed in limited quantities with no preservatives". It comes in a variety case that I got at Sam's Club. It is a very tasty lager. Kinda malty, like a good Michelob used to be. They must release this variety pack to Sam's in the Fall, as I had it last year at this time, also. When I drink it, I always think that this is the kind of beer my dad would have enjoyed.

Next up, Pappy 15.

Now, off to Poker! Wish me luck, and good cards!

Just got into some '08 Stagg. Picked it up earlier today and WOW! Better than the '07. Football on Thursday night and some Stagg, great combination.

I did have Parkers 127, 4 yesterday for the third day in a row. Good? Yes very good and better the further down I come in the bottle. Rye recipe bourbon? Well I guess so……

Do taste more like a wheat recipe to my taste buds though. More and more like it the further down I come in the bottle.

Last night I finshed off a Duty Free 1l bottle of Woodford Reserve from batch 79. Not the best Woodford I've had, but not the worst either. I used the first 2/3 of the bottle as a mixer over several months, but noticed the taste when poured neat seemed to improve as I got towards the bottom of the bottle.

Started early with my bourbon lovin' friends at work...We were saluting the last day of single life for our friend Jordan who's getting married tomorrow. We toasted with Pappy 15 bought by one of our bosses for the occasion!

My wife and I are getting ready to head out and take her mother out to dinner for her birthday. Starting with Buffalo Trace, but I know I'm going to need Stagg to get through it...:D

So Big Dog, OscarV ran by tonight for a little bit! I had his share of the Larue Weller so he was picking up his bottles.

We started with some 1966 bottled in 1972 Old Fitz BIB then on to...well I think it went like this?

1950 bottled in 1958 Very Old Fitz

1982 WT #8 101

ER 101 L'Burg

2008 WLW

1976 Bottled in 1982 OT BIB

late 70's Old Crow 7 year old from the Tuxedo Crow decanter.

As always there is a stand out in our tasting! Oscar, forgive me for quoting you but..."someone shoot me if I ever buy a Beam product! Any company that can F- up good whiskey like Old Crow used to be, doesn't deserve or have any use for my $$!"

Did I get that right?

Cheers all!

Tony

It's been a busy week at work learning and implementing a new software program, but it was worth it as the new program is going to save a lot of time...I'm glad it's Friday evening, and tonight I'm raising a glass of OCPR to cigarnv and friends in VA...Salute!

Drinking a new purchase...Old Fitzgerald 1849...I read the Tasting thread..some good info there.

Nose...sweet alcohol, some "high notes"...maybe the wheat contribution.

Taste...interesting...somebody said Weller like....there is a similarity. It is a little rough on the tongue...hard for me to describe the definite...for me..sharp finish...not as smooth as the Weller Antique 107.

It is a mouthful....not a favorite but it is an interesting addition to the stash.
