ACDetroit
In my Rare Breed snifter, a shot of Tony's 1970's Benchmark. This has a nose you just don't find today - melded fine wood and old roses, like a Brach's caramel that fell into a box of Turkish delight and was quickly pulled out. (I have never had Brach's but people have mentioned it so often I feel I know it!). The bourbon is round, sweet, caramel-like, soft with a long brandy-like finish. The most brandy-like whiskey I know. Thanks again Tony, and there's still a few ounces left!GaryI'm very happy to read your enjoying it Gary! Awesome. You are welcome and any time.Tony

callmeox
A couple of Saz Jr whiskey sours with a splash of blood orange bitters for variety on an unseasonably warm Halloween night.I also discovered that my neighbor across the street is a budding burbonite, so I poured a bit of Lot B and WT12 for him to try. He's a Beam Black guy, but the Lot B really made his jaw drop.
PhilsFan
Interesting day at work...the painters were painting my office...all the furniture was moved away from walls and I was in the center on a conference call learning a new program on my computer. We handed out candy tonight until about 8:45...still have plenty left. Then I was able to clear my paint affected sinuses with a healthy pour ofVOB bib... Happy Halloween! -Joe

gothbat
Earlier in the evening I picked up a single Jack Daniels Lynchburg Lemonade on a whim. I remember liking this stuff however this one I didn't care for and dumped. It smelled like a bar and tasted too sweet! Now it's time for some FR120th, great stuff. The first time I had some from this bottle I thought it was too hot but ever since then it's been ok and no water has been needed.

fishnbowljoe
Went out to dinner with some friends. Had a JB Black and Coke there. We then went to watch another friends daughter at her roller derby match. Afterwards, we all went to a small place for a couple of drinks. Had a couple of JB White and Cokes there. I'm home now, and I'm having a nightcap of WT RR 10/90. Great way to finish off a long day. Joe

ACDetroit
Tonight was a birthday party (nephew turned 2). My brother-in-law has his dad's mini collection so I went hunting. Way in the back he as tax stamp less than 1/2 pint OGD 86 from 1975 so I ask hey you gonna drink this? To no surprise to me he said "hell no!" "You want it?" So I grabbed a glass, this stuff from the 70's I've found is all very similar. It's unique stuff, with citrus, and spice, red hots, but then everything gets overpowered by some acetone or varnish flavor that goes right into the finish. I really thought the last bottle I had was bad but every one I have found from this era is the same. Not bad just different. I think the late 70's thru early 90's OGD is the best I've had, but that's just my opinion.Tony
