2009 GTS as well......

Must be the day for 2009 GTS!

I just finished my first bottle of this wonderful spirit. Even though I knew this was an unfiltered bourbon, I couldn't believe how much char there was at the bottom. Very, very tasty stuff. I'm glad I have another two bottles to work on.

I don't belive in heaven or hell, but I think I have found heaven on earth.

I'm sniffin' & sippin' Four Roses Barrel Strength Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey Celebrating 40 Years Jim Rutledge, Master Distiller.

A 2007 release, bottle No 349 of 1442, 104.6 proof.

104.6 proof right out of the barrel?!?!?!? How can that be????

It's very possible, just don't ask BT how it's done.

Opened a Jefferson's Reserve SB from Julio's. Strong rye whiskey with decent kick and flavor even at 82pf.

Nice Greg...I got pears and green apples from that one...;)

I had a small pour of 09 Mariage and OCPR tonight...maybe an ounce of each!

A couple 4RsmB and now I'm having a well bottle aired EC12......... and the EC12 is much better now, I actually like it.

I think I'll go buy another and split it between two bottles then start drinking it a month afterward s. The wheat kernel bitterness is gone now and it's sweeter and slightly creamy. Interesting, I was about to give it away or start cooking with it.

Had some '09 Mariage tonight. I've been trying not to drink it until I get another for the bunker, but it's just so damn hard not to.

Finishing off with some PVW20. I owe my great bourbon crusade to PVW20, it was my gateway bourbon.

If the gate was PVW20. What was the castle like?

btw, drinking lots and lots of vobbib and ogdbib tonight. ignore my posts.

 Living in KY, I was obviously familiar with bourbon, but PVW20 helped me appreciate it more and made me want to learn about distillation, history, etc. It also started my obsession with wanting to buy as much bourbon as I possibly could.

The castle is when you find a quality dusty on the cheap.

Tonight it's a face-off (while waiting for the late starting Blackhawks game) between the two orangiest tasting Bourbons I have: last years hand selected Binny's FRSB #3 versus an Old Forester BIB DSP 414 from 1980. The FRSB #3 wins hands down for having the most dominant orange undertones. The Old Forester's orange is there but more subtle and mixed up more with the brown sugar. Both are delicious. Finishing up now with some OF Repeal.....who cares about hockey anyway:lol: .

Last night I tried OGD BIB for the first time. Very nice for the price. This could easily be a daily pour for me.

Nothing yesterday as I had to rest my liver after the Houston gathering. Today I did have ETL before dinner and WT 101 from 1985 after.

Listening to the Braves on the radio. Started with Weller 12, and moving on to OGD114. Dang, the 114 is good!

One of my own minglings, very balanced, caramel-rich, and with faint brown spices and anise, I think respectively from various productions of Four Roses and Clermont/Boston.

Shakespeare had a character (Falstaff) observe that "if I had a thousand sons, the first human principle I would teach them would be to forswear thin potations". My drink complies.

Sitting outside (finally) on the deck, listening to Tosca, (reading a pirate novel when not on line), and sipping Four Roses Yellow Label. Can't be beat! Such a delicious, rich-flavored bourbon. Too bad about the mosquitos, though.

Sipping on some 1972 WSR and current WT101.

After drinking the 1972 WSR and a 1969 VOF the other day, I've decided that everything I've read about SW is not hype. There is no doubt in my mind that place made some of, if not THE, finest whiskey ever produced.

I'm relaxing with a nice pour of WTKS while listening to some great music from a little station in Knoxville streamed live over the intertubes. I never would have found the station without the recommendation of a friend.

Just for a different view. Currently sampling HH 6 YO 90. Not an expression for drinking neat. A good bourbon and coke mix. Traditional HH mashbill. I much prefer the 100 proof BIB.
