Jeam Beam, 8 year old, bonded (bottled in 1967). This stuff.... Is pretty damn good for a beam product.

I did go to a real special champagne tasting event last night. It was 10 vintages between 1961 and 2005 from the house of Franck Bonville. We did have them half blind and as amazingly as it can sound they were all fresh and lively and the 1961 actually was voted as the best.

Back home I had EW12, OGD114 and a big foot before bedtime.

I had too much bourbon last night...

3 pours of Lot B followed by a Pappy 15 then back to the Lot B. I finished the night with 2 pours of Binny's BT. It was a good night! :D

Conducted a little family tasting this evening and enjoyed the following:

Pappy 15

'88 WSR

'82 Old Fitz BIB

'07 GTS

'08 Handy

OC Classic 90

Baby Saz

other whiskey:

Balvenie Singularity 15 yr

Bushmills Millennium, a 25 yr

Amrut Fusion, an Indian whiskey

Paddy's Irish

A very nice ad hoc tasting.

Any winners? Losers?

I'm going to need some time with this one.

I had a few neat yesterday and now I am cutting it with water, trying to get the proof down to 100 from 112.6.

I'll post something over in the Four Roses Limited Edition 17yo 2010 thread.

One thing I will say about it now is the previous 3 LE releases were better.

Uncut HH 14 Y bottled by Cadenheads both before and after dinner including to the dessert. A real cracker of a bourbon indeed. Big boned, sweet, chewy and with all the classic bourbon flavours.

The bourbon's I've hard before (numerous times) so they were really for the benefit of others. The Bushmills was over the top delicious. I'd have to admit, one of my favorite of the night. The Amrut I received from a friend the evening before and wanted to throw it in the mix just to keep things interesting. It's a fantastic whiskey and from India of all places. I'll be hunting for another bottle to bunker. I had not had the Paddy's before but found it to be light and refreshing yet with enough flavor to keep me coming back for more. All good stuff.

VWFRR-K before dinner and JDSS with the red current-rhubarb pie for dessert. All tasted very, very well. My train to the airport are leaving in slightly over 6 hours, so I better try to get some sleep soon.

A splash of smooth brown WTKS after winning some money on a local game show. Woot!

It was a barrel proof night for me. Started with a Willett 3 year neat, and moved on to a GTS '09 cut to about 115.

I've fallen hard lately for my first purchase of a Woodford Reserve, Batch 451. In addition to being delicious I also find this works well as an aperitif for other bourbons. Last night a National Distiller's Old Taylor (86 proof) never tasted better and of more butterscotch, as the followup. Tonight, the Jefferson's Presidential Select is also singing its high notes as a finale.

finally got around to the OWA last night. Tried it neat. Quick rush of heat followed by flavors galore. Nice long finish. To me, nothing there to not like.

Are you noticing a significant difference betwen this and other batch numbers you've had?

Significant? Yes over the current "03" and slightly over the "95".

This "99" lasts a long time as far as aftertaste goes.

Thanks! Just wondering if it was worthwhile to seek out some of the older batches. Only had the 03RB. I will keep my eyes open for a 99.

I've had so much "good stuff" around lately I forgot to keep the OGDBIB stocked. I stopped and picked up a handle on the way home, and boy is it tasty!

I really like moving around the shelf from week to week. Drinking the same whiskey all the time tends to get old quick, at least for me.

Elijah Craig 18yo, neat.

I picked this up yesterday because it got such high marks in Bourbon Joe's Weekly Tasting.

It is very good but not the same bottle as his which was dated 8-23-91, I got a 4-1-91.

I'll keep looking.
