Bookers on the rocks at high school senior sports awards banquet.

Just one for me

A friend had a total of 3 and got rather uninhibited during the speeches and award presentations earning him the ire of his wife.

no alcohol served, but the hotel bar was next door to our room and had a decent selection.

FRSB OESO

Willett 8 yr. - so easy to drink at 128pf

I tasted my first OGD114 last night. Really, really satisfying for a $25, 114pf bourbon, and probably the best current Beam product I've ever had. It tasted much, much more like BH than OGDBiB. Very easy drinking considering the proof, and really no Beam funk to speak of.

Not much depth or character to it, but it's perfect for when you're in the mood to drink your bourbon quickly, as I happened to be last night. I read speculation in another thread that it was perhaps non-chill filtered, but I did not get the full, oily mouthfeel I usually get from non-chill filtered whiskey.

Water did nothing but dilute the already faint flavors present, so I don't think I'll do that again. I look forward to seeing how or if it changes in the bottle, but it's nice to have an easy-drinking, over-proofed bourbon that I don't have to feel bad about drinking too quickly.

Last night I had some Eagle Rare, EWSB 02, and a pour of CEHT Tornado.

Think I'll be reaching for some wheaters tonight. Probably some Lot B and maybe some Vintage 17.

Aaron, should set up nicely for an "AWF".

Couldn't resist: w/an assist to Josh.

Cheers, Bill.

Just finished my monthly pour of WRDO. Bought this several months ago when it first came out ($50 at Liquor World/Bardstown). I really do not like it at all, but refuse to pour a $50 bottle down the drain. I resolved to have a pour on the first of each month until all gone, or until the end of the year.

It has been opened now for several months but it is not getting any better. Definitely my first and last bottle of this stuff!

Reflecting back on a great week, out by the pond. SB.Com/KBS Barrel "C" Pappy 23 Private Barrel Selection is the fitting pour. Pappy 23 too woody??? Not on this baby. Big time chocolate covered cherries Deeeeluxe! I need more weeks like this one...:toast:

About to pour some Evan Williams Single Barrel 2002. Barreled on 2-18-02 and bottled on 12-01-11 from Barrel #91.

Started with some Willett 5yr rye. it was the second to last pour of the bottle. Last one is going to have a healthy dose of barrel char goodness in it. Could really make out the black bits in the bottle as I poured the glass.

Finishing up with some HH Gold label 8yr. bottom self in most places, but something about is speaking to me. I've had the bottle opened for quite some time, so that could be helping it, but man, for the price, great value. Always seems to be a better second round than first, not sure why, but it works for me.

I have been hitting the 1.75 of OWA pretty hard lately and needed a change.

So I went down to the bunker, grabbed a bottle of Khans RHF, and reached into the medicine cabinet for an IV. Found a vein, hooked up the bottle and here I am, bliss...........

Re-visiting WR2O tonight. Opinion hasn't changed: decent pour, poor value.

I can't make myself like this one. I'm in a minority on this site. I generally like the Beam Small Batch collection, and this should be a value version of BH.

Started with a pour of Breckenridge, then a couple pours of Breaking & Entering, now sipping on the EWSB 2000.

Having a little KC. It's been quite a while since I've had any, and it's tasting rather good.

Watching the Red Sox this afternoon i felt like a small pour. Decided to open the Devil's Cut mini I picked up out of curiosity (the process sounds interesting). I didn't have any expectations, other than thinking I'd probably toss it after a few sips :D. It's actually not horrible. The nose is good, the taste is lacking but not offensive, and the finish is a bit spicy and nice. I wouldn't buy a bottle, but it was worth the try.

Sipping on some FRSB (TPS private bottling of the standard OBSV SB 8 yrs old. Makes me wonder what it would taste like at twice the age, even though I know JR doesn't really approve of extra aged bourbons) while cooking a big, fat, bone-in ribeye on the grill. IMHO, the best pour and value in the bourbon world at $31.99..

Devil's Cut while watching the Stanley Cup Finals... What I drink after depends on who wins.

Since Rob is probably still comatose from his intravenous feeding, I'll answer. :D. "Kahns" is a small chain of liquor stores in Indianapolis. They did a private barreling of Rock Hill Farms (RHF) not too long ago. It was fabulous.

Thanks Joe. Is there there still Rock Hills Farm out there? Not sure I've seen this.
