stevegoz
Brixie's, I'm assuming? Nightly $3 shots of bourbon, including OWA on Sundays. Definitely a top 10 beer bar in Chicago's western suburbs. Enjoyed a bit of Blanton's tonight -- must've been the persuasive power of Longmire. Went to a bar that specializes in beer last night (32 beers on tap and another 200 in bottles) and was happy to see that they also had a few decent bourbons on hand. This place is nothing fancy, so the bourbons weren't top shelf by any means but they at least had the good sense to stock Four Roses Yellow Label, FR Small Batch, Old Fitz BIB, WT 101 and Russell's Reserve, Makers 46, OWA and Weller 12 plus a few others. I had a few OWA's with my pints of Three Floyds Gumballhead and left with a pleasant buzz and a head full of good zydeco music. Nice night out! Gillman
Triple A and ETL bought in KY earlier this year. Both primo bottlings, I was surprised the AAA was so good. It is on the light side but with a rich clean bourbon taste, no harshness as I recall from about 10 years ago, and a soft elegant finish. A bargain. (Neither is it the dark heavy stuff of 30 years ago, which is fine). ETL when it is right still has that rich rummy character I am sure Elmer seeks in the bottlings, but inevitably some fall a bit short. I had one bought in Ontario not long ago that was thin and a little spirity. For some reason, the juice bought in KY always seems better!Gary
JayMonster
1792 Ridgemont Reserve. Found this to be... OK. Not great, and certainly not worth the price paid, but nothing offensive. A bit of water seemed to help this one (for me anyway), a lot more than a lot of bourbons... it almost NEEDED that splash. Seemed to me to taste younger than its 8 years would indicate. OscarV
A 4R barrrel stregth selected by Mr Rutledge for Shoppers Vineyard, neat.!0 years and 3 months old at 105.6 proof, isn't that a fantastic proof to come out of the barrel.
AaronWF
I have been suckling at the teat of Mr. Rutledge as well, discovering a hole in the bottom of my 17yo OBSV gift shop barrel #10 graciously delivered to me on Saturday by an amazingly generous fellow SBer. I literally cannot get enough of this stuff. Every sip is a delight and when I have swallowed and savored the finish I want to put more in my mouth. It's an addictive candy that will not last long, damn its fleeting availability to hell!

savagehenry
On a wheated binge - First Weller Special Reserve, then Old Fitz 12, now Vintage 17, next JPS18.
sutton
A 50/50 blend of ORVW 10/107 and Weller 12 - had about 10% of each bottle left and mixed them together to get rid of a bottle. The slight acetone note I was getting in the ORVW is very much reduced, and some of the cinnamon on the Weller 12 is mitigated. Interesting, not necessarily preferred over each one individually. I guess it is a BT 11/98.5 ...
WAINWRIGHT
Quick vertical of Weller 12 and Lot B;honey picked barrels make all the differance in the world but both good pours.Lot B really spot on tonight though!

DaveOfAtl
Had a healthy pour of WLW (2008) last night, cut to 107 proof. Such a beautiful whiskey and much brighter and more honeyed than the SB blend and Weller 12 I have been drinking lately.

GaryT
Enjoying some Old Forrester B'day 2011. This wasn't one of my fav renditions, but not bad - except for how much space the bottle takes up (hence the renewed effort to empty it!)
