We were at Red Rock BBQ in beautiful downtown Ypsilanti today and they still had Bell's Hopslam on tap so you know what beer I had.

Had a hopslam and dfh positive contact last night on draft. Tonight I had a 3 Floyd's gumballhead and schlafly Aipa at mellow mushroom.

World of Beer next to UCF. Had a Trappist beer, tasted like Chimay red, but it was something else. Achel, I think.

I was a little distracted by the college women in their short shorts and tight fitting shirts.

The "banquet beer". Not bad beer my friend. I used to drink it when I couldn't find Sam Adams.

Ballast Point Dorado DIPA. Really enjoyed all of the BPs that I've tried so far.

Don't get me wrong, I love beers like Hopslam, etc. as much as the next person. But every now and then it's nice to sit down and drink something that is simply ice cold and refreshing. The Coors hit the spot tonight.

Twisted Pine Billy's Chilies Beer. Drove to NC yesterday to get a case as it isn't sold in SC.

I just bought a case of Good People pale ale. I haven't tried it yet, though.

Firestone Walker/Revolution Brewery's Dos Osos IPA. I could drink this all day.

A pint or so of nicely aged Fuller's 2009 Vintage Ale. Doesn't try to be too fancy but is a a standard of the old ale style. A touch of sweetness from the malt with a bit of chewyness and just a hint of hoppy bitterness to balance it. Always tastes great especially as the weather gets warmer.

It's way too hoppy for me. And 23 cans to go... :frown:

That sure was a great time, Steve. I too probably had one or two more than I needed judging by the big head I woke up with this morning, but it sure was worth it. There were too many killer beers in that line-up to pick a true favorite (and I happened to select the one dud that was universally panned by the group when it came to be my turn to grab a beer from the cooler:lol:) but the one that sticks out most in my (foggy) mind is probably Revolution's Straight Jacket Barleywine. That one's a real beauty and I feel fortunate to have such a fine micro right here in Chicago. Thanks again and see you soon at my house for a beer and bourbon blow-out!

I've really enjoyed all five of the Revolution barrel-aged beers that I've had -- glad we got to work through three of them last night. Needless to say I'm also excited to see where Pipeworks goes with their new barreling program.

My best in show was the Bourbon County Cherry Rye, unsurprisingly -- combines several of my favorite things. Most pleasant surprise was how well the IIPA in Doom stood up to the barrel.

I think our eclectic selection showed again just how many different outcomes you can get through the combination of a beer, a barrel and some time.

Sounds like a great time, gents. Well done!! Can I come next time? :D

For me, it's Balashi by the buckets, in Aruba. Decent "Island type" beer, that you would expect from the islands. On the beach, and very cold, it's dang good.

I spent the last few days with some friends up in northern WI and drank a lot of New Glarus Spotted Cow, Moon Man, and IIPA. One my MN friends also brought my favorite IPA: Surly Furious.
