A good deal considering it is very tough to find at retail. The new BMH is not the same. I guess it depends on if you want to drink it or sell it.

I really didn't know what it was until after I posted it here and then noticed the 16. I thought it was an older release of the standard SmB. The owner and I even looked for the age and didn't see it while I was there. :blush: I went back and got it for less than that Tyler. :grin: I hope it was worth it...

I can't remember Squire. Didn't take a pic of the front. I just know that the label was different from the ones that have been around for a few years and I was sitting right next to the dusty Turkey handles that I came home with.

The age statement on Rebel Yell migrated around a bit, was on the neck at one time on a small, separate label.

Passed up some Bruichladdich PC10 (Cask Strength Tro Na Linntean) @ ~$184, Weller12 @ over $34, & a bunch of others that were all overpriced.

The red label BMH is swill. I had high hopes, but after having at least a 1/3 of the bottle, I can say it's definitely in the top 3 of worst bourbons for the price.

I like corn whiskey as much as the next guy, but then read "with natural flavors", that seems very un-natural to me.

Walked away chuckling......but yet still oddly curious.

I absolutely love EC12 so I think I would have had to have tried at least one EC18. I saw EC20 today and I think it was around $120. Can't spend that amount of dough on a single bottle. I wasn't looking for it anyway. I scored 3 bottles of Weller 12 instead and still had money left over to buy pizzas.

Hmmm, that is interesting and good to know. I really like 10 to 12 year old bourbons, at least the ones that I have tried. I have never tried anything older, at least that I know of. I am also learning that I tend to prefer bourbons with a tilt toward wheat or rye, although that is not universal and it is too early in my learning curve to say that will always be the case.

I might be better served to have someone else (for example, at a business function) pay for me to try something like EC18. The key for me is value. It would have to be really good stuff to justify paying $50 v. $23.99 for EC12.

mb I bought a case of the Elijah Craig 18 when it first came out but quickly decided it was simply too woody. We drank the whisky of course but continued to prefer the 12 year old.

I love the 18. If I found a stash I'd buy them all. You'll never pay $50 for 18yo bourbon again once they're gone. Although it's been a while since I've had one I'd take it over the 12 and the ECBP :shocked:

Passed on several (at four or five at different places) EC18. Most in the 60-70 dollar range. Also passed up a decent amount of WT Rye 101 - think I have enough in the bunker.

I still regret not buying a couple bottles or even one about six years ago when we were in Sitka. Even my wife told me to buy one. It was below $1000!!

Co sign. If bourbon continues the way it is, we might not see many under 100 with an 18 year age statement.

It's been hot in ky over the past 5 or 6 years. Yields in aged stock are way down. And that heaven hill fire looms large since it was about 16 years ago.
