i stopped in a local hole in the wall liquor store nearby today. the kind of place where it is dark, all the booze is behind a steel cage, and most everything is in 'portable' 200's and 375's. I cant find any ECBP anywhere, but i know that this guy will order me one if it is available, although it may cost a few bucks more than a big name store. we'll see on monday if any is available.

what is this stuff actually going for, to you guys who can actually find it? i just wanna know if the price he gives me is in line with normal pricing before i buy one from him.

Here in Atlanta, it was $39.99 - but I've heard it going for as much as $49.99 retail in other states. IMHO - if I saw one on the shelf at $49.99, it'd be coming home with me.

At least one major store in Atlanta was (over)charging the $49.99 price. But it was all I found so it came home with me when I saw it.

I haven't seen it during the second round (either more recent issuing of the first batch, or a second batch). And I should have clarified - I don't know if I would have bought it at $50 the first time without having tried it. But I've paid a lot more for whiskey I've liked less :)

You've obviously never had Brimstone. Lagavulin is great peated single malt whisky, but Brimstone is a distillate (not grain) infused with smoke from Texas scrub oak. It's quite unique and very good!

Yep, the Brimstone is indeed good stuff. Not the same as Lagavulin as we're talking apples and oranges.

Good way to put it! It was $49.99 here in DC, which was a bit much, but since the store charges $32 for the regular EC12, they were gouging in a general sense and not particularly marking up the ECBP.

Oh, and it still says it's 12 years old on the back.

EW BIB finally made it to Indy so I grabbed a bottle. Now I can stop nursing my open bottle! :drinking:

Nice. Glad to hear it's still rolling out. Nothing yet in AZ, but at least there's hope.

Yeah, $42 is a solid price! I believe $46 is the best that I have seen in Indy.

Crazy, isn't it? I've seen a few barrel proof bourbons over the years, and I don't recall anything as dark as the regular release ECBP. You're right on our selection. It is exceptional. Tight up front as would be expected with its age, but literally explodes with a combo of sweetness and spice with a drop of water and a few minutes sitting in the glass. :yum:

You don't recall because you were drinking barrel proof bourbon at the time

went to the new huge liquor barn with the wife today. she wanted a bottle of wine to take to a party we were attending tonight, and i finally found two of the things i was wanting to try.......Fighting cock 103 and Ezra 7/101. i was only gonna get one, and since i can get the FC at the local pharmacy, i grabbed the Ezra 7.

quite similar to an EW BIB or a white HH BIB, with the slightest taste difference i cant quite place. at $7 higher than HH white BIB though, that would be my choice given the two. i pretty much expect FC to be very similar as well. thats why i have yet to buy one, i expect it to have the same HH 100 proof 6-7 year taste

Yes, that's true, they will be very similar. We pays our money and makes our choice.

A few ECBP's are now securely stashed in the bunker. This is a dandy of a bunkerable Bourbon!

TRIED to pick up an ECBP today.......found a store that listed it as in stock, so i drove out there and asked where it was and was told that they had one but someone had reserved it.

as long as ive been looking for this stuff, i was pissed that although it was there and i was there and i had cash to hand them for it, i wasnt allowed to have it because some asswipe reserved it over the phone. i mean, really!? i would not do business like that.

ive all but given up on ever finding this stuff. people across the country seem to get it easily, yet i (who could probably smell the distillery on a light day) cant find a single bottle of it for sale.

gaaH!

The search and hunt is part of the fun of it. If this passion gets you that worked up its not worth it.

yeah, to a point. when it comes down to looking for 2/3 of a year for something that is released nationwide, and is made within a few miles of my home, and i still cant find it........then to finally find it and be turned away because someone without the initiative i had put into it, had reserved it via phone, i was pissed.

hunting this down is not worth it. and screw the flippers too. ive had more than one enjoyable hobby ruined by morons trying to line their pockets instead of guys just enjoying the thing for what it was meant to be.

the Mopar hobby used to be fun. USED to be. collectors got involved and phucked that all up. bourbon is a FAAAR smaller scale, but im seeing the same thing here too.

you know, if someone on here was itching to get something that i could find here, and i could get it to them, id not charge anything more than what it cost me to get it to them.

gaaaah! now ive started my profiteer rant!....

Ask for help from other memebers. I'm sure someone can help you find a bottle. That's how I found my one bottle that I've been nursing.
