Old parchment label Glendronach 15 year old (100% Sherry) from the early 90s. For being 80pf its really good (and flavorful). It definitely has the Dronach skeleton with a strong raisin-y/stewed fruits/baking spice profile. The nose is real grape-y. A great pour if you're looking for something a little milder on the palate but still flavorful.

I don't think I've ever had a bad Dronach. How is Macallan still in business?

Scott's Selection Highland Park 1986. Really interesting due to the low ex sherry content (if any). I'd compare it to something in between Balvenie 15 and Talisker 18 but with no peppery notes to speak of. Really solid IB. A great way to celebrate exceptional news.

I need to try and kill of some bottles from my early whisky buying days. I can't justify opening new bottles when I have so many crappy ones open. Right now, it's Tamdhu 10. It's not bad, it's just not great either. A satisfying little dram with malty flavor that goes down easy.

Glenfiddich 15 DE 51%abv non-chillfiltered, followed by Nikka Taketsuru 12yr pure malt. Both great pours.

My local had that for $39 + 15% off in November. I wish I had bought more of it then. :(

Irish night. Green Spot (700ml from Ireland) mad Powers John Lane. Both really really good Irish whiskeys. The powers is something very special though.

Opened one of my new bottles before I left on my work trip. Wonderful nose full of brown sugar, but on the palate the brown sugar is gone, it's all earth (damp earth?), leather, and even some non-peat smoke at the end. The finish is long and almost dry... I dunno, a very strange whisky but a lot of fun. I will be revisiting when I get back.

Some nice drams for you guys last night. Those really old CS Glendroach Oloroso bottles tend to finish dry. I like it, but I don't think I'd buy another one at the price point. I really want to crack my PX one to see the difference, but I need to focus on emptying some.

Remember, your PX or Oloroso GD may not have spent it's entire time in said barrel.

Wow...Glenfiddich 15yr DE on thewhiskyexchange is priced close to double that. I would of bought every single bottle they had

I started out the day with some Glenlivet Nadurra followed by some Gold Top from Elevator Brewing Company and some Hakushu Bourbon barrel to end the evening.

Enjoying the last of my bottle of Compass Box Flaming Heart 2012. I'll be sad to kill this one. As much as it provides a satisfying peat kick, it also has some surprisingly gentle fruity notes that erupt out with a drop or two of water. I DO know of a couple places with multiple bottles @ $69, but I have a bottle of the 2010 bunkered, so I'm undecided as to whether or not I should replace the 2012. So much whisky, so little time . . .

At least one or two of them would be coming home with me at that price. There's still plenty near me but they're $90. I have a couple put away, so I'm letting them stay on the shelf at $90.
