Thanks everyone. I have definitely caught up on sleep. Lucky me I get to take another set of written and oral boards when I finish my fellowship.

Finished a OGD 114. Very sad to see it go but then I opened the OGD BIB. Now I'm not so sad anymore.

I love Saturdays!

Yes, I find Old Grand Dad BIB improves my Saturday afternoon as well but I could also say that about other days of the week.

Enjoying a glass of PHC blend of mashbills at a local bar and it is delightful. My first experience with it. Definitely seems to have a great hint of HH's herbal character alongside the somehow rougher HH wheat characteristics I find in modern production old fitz, a perfect middle ground and an altogether delicious drink. Going to try to mimic it when I get home with some ECBP and OFBIB.

Trying Jim Beam Black for the first time, need more time with this one. I enjoy Booker's and OGD114 but Beam Black just seems to be a little bland.

Not to say that is is bad by any means just not so complex. We shall see.

Maybe its the screw cap?

I like the Black but I like Beam products generally (there, I've said it) though I found it a smidge underproof at 90 made moreso when they lowered the proof to 86.

A small pour of ECBP 5 before dinner. A large pour of ETL while watching the Seminoles.

Been a while since I've reported in. Recently I've been enjoying Old Ezra 7 year, ORVW 107, THH 2010, ECBP (batch 2) and some FRSB gift shop OESO...not all at the same time of course. Had some small pours of the Old Ezra, THH and ORVW 107 while watching some college football tonight. I'm mourning the FRSB gift shop OESO as I finished it the other day. That was some really unique stuff there...really enjoyed it.

As a change of pace, I'm enjoying an 80 proof Laird's 7 1/2 year old apple brandy. I started with a little Virginia Gentleman, but as a mixer. I enjoy it straight sometimes, but not tonight. The Laird's is just for sipping, but I can imagine it making some great cocktails.

I think SB'ers would find a lot to enjoy in this apple brandy. It and Mellow Corn are my regular substitutes.

Last night had a blind side by side of 2 EC12 off the shelf (bought months apart and different stores). Really amazing the differences. I always thought EC12 had a lot of variation but this was eye opening.

Sampled P&M's WFE 7 last night next to a random WFE 10 and ECBP batch 4. Despite the age difference the 7 held up very well. Nice pick Eric and company!

Tasted through 4 different FRSB recipes (OBSV, OESV, OBSK and OESO) to make some tasting notes. Figure a few rounds of this and what pops up on multiple counts will be reliable. Not a bad one in the bunch, and looking forward to some purposed experimental mingles with the few recipes I have.

FRSB this afternoon. Such a fine easily available bourbon.

Best regards, Tony

Moved on to some OWA to make sure I hit another major food group (eyeing some rye for more balance later ;) )

Booker's 2013-7. I've been trying this one off and on for a couple months now, always liking it, but this evening, I think I've really come into a place of really appreciating it for what it is: a readily available barrel proof bourbon with a powerful and mature flavor profile. This is worth always having open in the bar.
