dSculptor
Had to take a double take on these prices today....PVW20-- $2499.00,15 --$799.00,12--$499,10 -- $399.00,TH --$399, GTS --$799,WLW $499,Er17 --$499. REALLY? Just a run down LS in a nowhere place. He had a nice selection...but. I said so these are your "I don't want to sell these" prices.. she just laughed, I said do you really sell any of these at these prices? ,She said she had only sold one, the 10 yr. to a guy who looked like he could afford it and didn't even shrug at the price. They also had like 6 bottles of EC21, 2 bottles of JR 21, RB21, WR Four wood, & maple finished, but the prices were up there. I did manage to snag me a few more bottles of the CEHT CO at $69.99, could of bought the whole case if I wanted to.

How much was the mark up on those if you don't mind me asking? Would love to find a bottle of Cured Oak but have reserved myself to the fact that it just isn't going to happen. Would love to find a bottle of Cured Oak but have reserved myself to the fact that it just isn't going to happen. As I've been enjoying EC12 these past couple of weeks, I started the search for the barrel proof offering with no luck. However, I did find one place that has EC21 for $180. Seems pricey so I passed. And not sure if this matters, I believe EC21 was released two years ago? well, this shop has it sitting way up on the top shelf (right below ceiling). I wonder what affect if any the heat up there would have on the bottle. This past winter, I know one place where I asked to take a look at a bottle way up on the top shelf and it was warm.Probably nothing noticeable, guess I am just being a nit. Zeke
Howdy! Some just hit Ontario. Old Rip Van Winkle 10-Year-Old at $85 Canadian (~$68US) and Van Winkle 12-Year-Old Lot B Special Reserve at $102 (~$81US).They did not say how many, but my fingers are crossed for Quebec in the coming weeks (and that they don't gouge as much as New Brunswick and Ontario). dSculptor
Well shoot. Worth the trip and the laughs to score a few Cured Oaks at retail. Given the other prices, the store clearly is not aware of the hype surrounding the CO's. I bet the next release if he gets some wont be retail, I called there again to double check some prices and within an hour after I left someone else came in and snagged the remainder of the CO's. tanstaafl2
Anybody have a picture of the Pappy 15 with a ridiculous price tag in the picture with the bottle? There is going to be one at a charity auction I am working with and I want to try to get as much for it as I can!

Crazy crazyA place I frequent that is normally very fair apparently has a couple bottles of the ORVW stuff (not Pappy, the 10 and 12 years), and it was explained to me that "they're not really for sale...they're ours technically, but if someone is willing to buy 'em..."I asked what they wanted for the bottles (out of amusement; I'll put a little money down for a bottle of Pappy, but not for either of those two), and was told that each bottle was going for somewhere in the 3 or $400 range. Sean Bond
Right, the 10yo is Van Winkle not Pappy.Right, which makes it all the more ridiculous that the VW/Lot B stuff is going for this much. At some point (hopefully soon) there has to be a breaking point....I hope.

Old Dusty
The distributor has done this as a pre-derby bonus for at least a couple of years since VW went to a fall only distribution IIRC.
elmossle
Yes this is considered the Derby Pappy release in Louisville and only a select amount of stores receive shipments. Surprisingly they are branching out to Lexington which I am not positive has happened before. This is held over from the '14 fall release, and unfortunately one of the big box stores sent out an email blast promoting the release tomorrow for some stupid reason. Hopefully that will not happen again and they learn their lesson this year. For last years Derby release, one of this chains stores got only 12 bottles TOTAL of 10yr & 12 yr while another only got 27 bottles. I was lucky to get a bottle of 10 yr at one of the stores and struck out at the other. By comparison, they usually have roughly 120 bottles depending on the stores, for the fall release. They are going to have a TON of very pissed off customers in the morning. Especially since most of what is available is 10 & 12 yr expressions. Complete fail on this chains part in my opinion. mark fleetwood
(Not sure if it's BECAUSE I'm watching "Leaving Las Vegas"), but if the after market ever found out that Pappy was so good because it gave us an insight into SW juice, would it care? Would it drop Pappy faster than we dropped our first high school girlfriends? Would it care? What pops this bubble?
