Got me a 4r Le SmB yesterday for $69.99, thankful that there are still LS's out there that don't drag you over the coals for this stuff. He also got in a Michters Le toasted Barrel finish that I also took, not big on that stuff ,but have a friend who is.

Picked up a Knob Creek SB store selection. Personally, I've never been a huge fan of the off the shelf version and the local stores around here that carry private selections of it don't go to the distillery to make their picks, so I typically have passed. That being said, I know this store and I know they went up for the selection and typically make good picks, so I picked it up. Got a small sample before I purchased, it's nice, not overly complex, but has a nice wood component on the finish. Another nice selection by this store.

Also, because I have no self control, I bought another HW Midwinters Night Dram.

I hadn't bought anything in over a month but at lunch today I treated myself to some birthday gifts: Stagg Jr for 50, ECBP for 60, and an OGD114. Never had the last one in that list; time to see what all the fuss is about finally...

I bought two bottles of Four Roses Single Barrel Private Selection OESQ (9 yr, 8 months; 56.8% abv) for $59. I got to taste a sample of this (as well as an OESF that the store in question also picked) and found it to be amazing. I love those lower proof 4RSBs. Previously I debated buying a bottle of each, but decided to go with what I really liked and left the OESF for others to enjoy.

Today I grabbed an ER10 store selection 1.75 for $55 from Redstone Liquors in Stoneham which I thought was a good deal Will be gong back to pick up some Blanton's store selection for $48 next week. The ER10 was avail in 1.75, 750 and 375 while the Blanton's was only in 750 and 375.

Picked up my first bottle of OGD114 on sale for 20.95. Really liked the first pour!!

Just picked up 2 bottles of Four Roses Private Selection OBSK, aged 9 years 7 months. Coming in at 58.4% ABV. I got it at South Lyndale Liquors in South Minneapolis. It's an amazing liquor store, huge scotch and whisky selection---many open bottles to sample. This is my first Four Roses Private Selection, and it's wonderful---at 58.4% ABV it hardly needs water. The nose is slight baking spices, vanilla, salted caramel, toffee. Effervescent on the palate! The finish is buttery caramel popcorn, cinnamon, nutmeg---and VERY LONG for me. I've never had the Limited Editions, and if they are better than this Private Selection, I will be in bourbon nirvana! After being on a Springbank Scotch kick for the last several months, this is a good way to come back to bourbon.

Put a dent in my recent pile of single barrel Four Roses with my father in law. 3 barrel selections, and the recent 15 year gift shop release. It's always interesting to taste the FR single barrels side by side to see how much variation can come from their recipes. And almost always excellent!
