A few months ago, I filled an empty bottle of ETL with AAA10* - opened her up last night and thoroughly enjoyed several pours - one of the best "ETL's" I've had in a while! Amazing how the mind will fool you.

Might even be better than the ETL they're bottling lately from what I've read.

Oh, it's DEFINITELY better than the ETL bottle I purchased in late December - the finish on that was like tasting dirt.

Decided to visit with some old friends tonight, OWA followed by W12.

MMCS with an ice cube (now melted; thus, I shall start on it NOW).

A little VOB "6" BIB. This is the best value going (in these parts). If I lived in Kentucky, HHBIB 6yr would have that status. (Pricing is weird from state to state you know).

Had my first pour of OGD 114 yesterday. Man, it's hot, but in a good way. A full flavored bourbon at a great price. Tonight, Four Roses 2014 SBLE.

Started last night with some excellent ETL and then a pour of ECBP. Doing them in that order really heightened the differences in proof and woodiness (in a fun way).

Just felt like some WT101.  Don't know why.

PHC Blend of Mashbills on this spectacular evening here, Down South.   One of the greatest bourbons ever made, IMHO.

after unusually complicated week: full glass bottled 2003 McKenna 10yo followed by lot 2 ECBP.  McKenna great, good complexity with super finish like expected.  assumed the ECBP would pale but enjoying the simple thickness of the ECBP.  playing with pulp sci-fi from 1940's makes it more fun.

Stopped at a bar after work, had a healthy pour of 4RSB.  Home now and enjoying a store pick SAOS 8 year.  Delicious.

Finishing off a bottle of EC12.  I still feel that it is a bit too oak forward for my taste, but, I do have a more favorable view than when I first tried it.

EHTSmB tonight.  Found a store with that, a Saz Jr. and a Weller 107 tonight. Bought them all.

I think the 9 and 10 year old Single Barrels are also the high rye mashbill. I believe only the standard 10yr at 99 proof is the low rye. (Could be wrong though).

The standard 7yr is in short supply around here, and when seen is in the $50's now. Just can't do it at that price. This current bottle will be my last unless I find it for much less online.

Yeah, I think that's right on the mashbills.

Dang! $50 is a bit rich for the standard 7yr.  When I was at the distillery earlier this year, they had the 9 and 10yo SB's for $52 or $55.

50$ for a SAOS 7 yo, ouch, in Europe, that's what you have to pay for the 10 yo. It's a great bourbon, i like it. It reminds me, i need to score a bottle soon, mine is almost empty.

Tonight, i'm gonna try for the first time a pour of OGD 114. Finally, people talk a lot about it and seem to like it.

Just finished a pour of OGD114 myself, which was preceded by some MMCS.  Getting ready to decide on a 3rd pour.  I think I could kill the OGD114 with one more hefty pour, so that's a thought.

ck on game 7.

Enjoying some Woodford Reserve Double Oaked....nice end to the night.

OGD114 is awesome.  Partly due to the price that it's offered at (saw a place for $21.99).  I'm not a fan of most of the Jim Beam stuff, but OGD114 and Booker's are right up my alley.

Great week, great day, and had one of my all time great bourbons earlier, so figured the time was right to go back to the SA 10 yr to see if it would finally hit my sweet spot...

Nope.  Fail.  I just can't get into this whiskey.   Just nothing there to light my fire.

Joe, has the SAOS 7yr ever worked for you?

I agree on the 10.

A very long day that capped off a long and tough week meant that I fell asleep on the couch last night with my pour of ECBP virtually untouched. I put some saran wrap over the glass to save it for tonight.

Prior to that I had a pour of HMcKBIB, a newly perennial favorite for me. This barrel doesn't blow my doors off like the last one I had, but I have no complaints about it either.

I also revisited an old favorite - the Stagg Jr./OC8 blend. I only do this with the older blends of Jr. that are rough enough around the edges that water alone can't tame them. After a bit of mingling time (10-15 minutes or so), it really pleases the palate.

Blanton's after a long day of chasing the granddaughters around the playground, serving drinks at older daughter's first baby shower, heading into Legal Seafood for a birthday party for SIL #2, and driving home.  I need this glass of ecstacy tonite.

Started off with that ECBP that I poured last night but then fell asleep on. I put saran wrap on the glencairn to keep it for this evening and it kept well. It really is a great pour for the price - even with the recent price increases. Followed with more of the Stagg Jr./OC8 blend. Enjoyable as always. But then I followed with the real Stagg, Stagg Sr. ('14). Just beautiful whiskey. This remains my favorite bourbon. (Not picking a year, just in general).
