Sampling tonight.  First Blanton's, then ECBP, then Parker's Heritage Wheat, now ER17.  I don't find it terribly complex, but still quite delicious.  A good night, minus the Badgers' collapse.

A nice pour of Weller Centennial this morning.  A great way to start the day.

Had a 2 oz. pour of WT101 with a few drops of water. I enjoyed it a great deal.   Made me wonder why I go into the $40-60 price range on occasion.

I took my wife out to dinner for her birthday last night to Longhorn Steak House. We had a great dinner, and I had a nice pour of WT 101. It's been a while since I've had WT 101, so I opted for it over Beam White, KC, Buck Bourbon and MM. I almost forgot what a nice pour WT 101 is.  Very enjoyable.

Today is another story. I actually slept in for a change. After a light breakfast and coffee, I/we started on laundry and a little 'spring cleaning'. Betwixt and between chores, I finally started experimenting on my OWA/Weller Blend for this years Sampler. I have a basic vatting that I'm working on right now. So far it's a blend of four different private selections of OWA. I also tried a very small variation using different amounts of Weller 12, a private selection Weller SR and some 07 WLW. Those were good too, but I decided I'm gonna let my initial vatting sit for a while before I try anything else. I'll report back later if there are any changes. :D

Cheers! Joe

I do a lot of fixit it, build it, maintain it, and install it's around the house, but I don't like to do electrical stuff.  Too many bad things can happen...like electrocuting yourself to death, or burning the damn house down...So, I'm feeling like a regular Mr. Sparky this afternoon after installing an outside electric socket/box/cover/doohickey up by the pond. And, no smoke anywhere!

So I looked around for something simple, and workman like.  Went with this older Georgia only (from what I've heard) EW BIB release with the cute little cabiny thingy on it.  Seems less sweet than the current iteration, and not as heavy.

Had the last (boo-hoo) of a vatting I made up from about 2/3 David Nicholson 1843 BIB with 1/3 of that Old Forester 1870 BIB.    The DN is/was pretty young and mild/sweet without a great deal of character; the OF 1870 was QUITE woody and astringent, which I didn't love.    So on a lark I made a few different things with each of 'em.     This particular vatting turned out to be stellar!    Pretty surprising; but each lent what the other lacked and/or subtracted what the other had too much of.      This turned out to be a real favorite, and I wish I'd mixed all of what I had of each, because it was so well-balanced, and hit me so perfectly.      Alas, I have none left of either now.     The OF 1870 was waay too expensive to buy more just for this reason; but the DN1843 is cheap, so I may scoop another just for such a possibility in the future, with some unexpectedly woody Bourbon.

Had a Manhattan with the McKenna before dinner. Then  the last of an original label RR 90 and now onto the heavenly (in the spirit of the season :)) GBS RR.

I sometimes forget how solid and exceptional is Four Roses Single Barrel. Some are better than others (though none bad) due to single barrel variation. The better ones are just ridiculous for something that is readily available. Happy to be enjoying one of the better ones tonight.

Heading home from an Easter feast at my brothers.  A little GBS ETL, Lot B, JD Sinatra, and finished up with a McScrooge's OWA 7 yr.  The McScrooge's OWA was wonderful.  I think it may appear in the Empty Bottle thread next time we visit...:D

Any further thoughts on the JD Sinatra Joe?

It was quite nice Squire, if but a bit tame.  Could have been its placement in the rotation of other beers, whiskies and food, though.  :D  Dare I say, smooth?  I remember it having a bit more guts to it in previous tastings.  But again, as I find with Daniel's with an increase in proof and/or age, this bottle had much less, if not totally lacking, the typical banana that I get in No. 7.  A fine drink, nonetheless.

Great Easter feasts with family and got an offer on our house after 2 days on the market.  Touch low but room to negotiate and really positive sign, so it's been some Blantons with the wife to celebrate the offer and some Bookers afterwards to relax.  Hopefully tomorrow it's time for some HHSB 2 ...

Had a couple of big pours of EC12 (my lucky pour from Friday's Sweet 16 game) for the UNC vs. Notre Dame game tonight and then a celebratory pour of the "Smooth Dramblers" PS of SAOS9CS.  Oh.....and a follow up 2nd celebratory pour now.   :-)

Three fingers of Blanton's over Easter dinner with wife, son-in-law, daughter #1, AND granddaughter #3 due in mid-June.  Ok, ok - granddaughter didn't have any Blanton's, but she did have a sip of 2013 Olema Pinot Noir.    ;)

Had a single generous pour from a bottle gifted to me by my baby boy, Gary some time ago.   That being: OFBB '07.    A STELLAR pour!    Just a flavor bomb!   Hard to believe so much can be achieved at only 94-proof.    Enjoyed about two-ounces over a couple hours, in tiny sips, all of which were as tasty as the first one.

Well, I taste tested my basic vatting again today after work. Even though it's pretty darned good, I decided to tweak it just a wee bit. I'll try and taste it again tomorrow and see whats what. I sure hope there's some left by the time the Sampler rolls around. :P

Cheers! Joe

Some VOB BIB tonight. This is one of those pours that reminds me why I drink more bourbon than anything else, it tastes great and the price is even better.

I'd been waiting to dig into some more 4R PS until it was properly spring and today in Chicago sure feels like it...
