JSpartan
Checked out a store I hadn't been in before either. They had one bottle of ETL without a price. I asked how much. He told me $149.99. Said no thanks. Tried to lure me back by saying he could go down to $100. Still no thanks.

They can put all the picture cards they want on anything as long as they have what those " in the know" really need. ???? I'd be happy to purchase those; even if I had to get b.s. sales pitch on the way. I might even politely educate some of their staff.

The new stuff is their own juice...nuff said. As far as comparing it to PVW20 from 2013, I'll probably never know.

Didn't notice the 2013 date, just saw the tan label Willett distilled bottle picture. Even in 2013 I highly doubt it compared to PVW. In 2016/17 with the tan label it doesn't compare favorably to pretty much anything I've tried in a long time.

It's quite close to Mobil Super + The picture is actually white label (with horses) BiB 100p, which is only in KY (I believe) and somewhat better than tan label 90p. The bottle on the right (with horses) is actually the KBD version of Old Bardstown (sourced), not the Willett distilled Old Bardstown BIB.
PaulO
I picked up both the 90 and 101 versions of Old Bardstown several years ago in KY (before it was available in IN). These were the sourced versions. They were both bottom shelf swill in my opinion. I would not buy again or reccomend.
flahute
An Old Bardstown from early 2013 may well have been a very nice bottle. Willett/KBD's stocks weren't under full pressure yet so it's possible some older whiskey was part of the batch that Robert Parker's bottle came from. That's how it goes with KBD's sourced products. You just never know if you are going to get a stellar bottle or a mediocre to poor bottle. I've had enough of the latter recently so I've given up unless someone with a palate I trust vouches for one that contains batch info on the label. Limegoldconvertible68
I think the key to that bit of advertising is the phrase "believe it or not". Obviously "not" is the correct part of it.

b1gcountry
I tried some of the tan label old Bardstown at a restaurant last night. I don't regret ordering it, especially as a generous $5 pour.Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
Remind me never to believe anything Robert Parker writes!! Robert Parker even rated it higher than George T Stagg. He calls it "Old Bardstown Black Label." I'd love to get to taste the bottles he rated, though.http://spiritsjournal.klwines.com/klwinescom-spirits-blog/2013/5/7/robert-parker-tackles-bourbon.htmlSent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

For some reason, the Pot Still tastes good to me once in awhile. Seems like the peanuts are dialed down a bit on that one. I'm also a big fan of their rye products.

It tasted like what I'd imagine a vatting of Old Crow and 4 year old Heaven Hill. I opened the 90 as soon as I got home. I saved the 101 several years. My reaction didn't change. Around that same time I tried Kentucky Vintage (another KBD brand). I thought it was ok, but a little pricey for just average. Maybe some NDP brand can be named Pig In A Poke, if it's not copyrighted.

OldFitzWithTheGoldLabel
I guess this more a liquor producer "Huh?" moment, but isn't this an interesting name? There must have too many yes-men in the board room meetings. Maybe they'll advertise in portapotties and bathroom stalls.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk
