Started with some RHF and then some 1792PF. I'm not big on AE but the more subtle finishing on this one agrees with me. I can't do more than one or two pours in an evening but I like it.

Punched the cult card with a 2 finger pour of 11 yr, 3 month old, OESV (118 proof) earlier today.

Solid! Did that last night. Tonight has been OGD114 and ECBP #11, which I truly enjoy.

I'm sharing a pour of some FR 2015 smb LE with my father in law, great stuff, definitely better than the 2014.

Cheers!

A local shop has been running KC Single Barrel on sale over the past month for $29 which is impossible to pass up. Add in the fact that this barrel seems to be darker than most, richer than most, thicker than most, and insanely flavorful... Well that's just a no brainer on what I should be drinking while watching football on a Sunday afternoon!

OK.....not to contradict the treatise above pertaining to bourbon zen.......I did get a wild hair tonight and for no special reason went with ORVW10yr and a '12 WLW. Special stuff. Don't need 'em to be happy and fulfilled though.

I got one pour left in me tonight and will go with the King (as Joe calls it) - GTS '14.

I'm pretty sure the point of bourbon zen (you would have to ask my Stagg-addled mind to be sure) is to enjoy the stuff, not let the stress of getting all the things ruin what should be a rather relaxing hobby.  Drink all the good stuff.  There's plenty yet.  Likewise, if the hunt is exciting and hasn't yet become stressful, go for it!  I speak as a person weary of the hunt, and as one who enjoys the room-filling roughness of Stagg Jr.

Tonight predictably started with SAOS7.  Moved to a solid pour of Blanton's while the steaks rest.  What's next?  Who knows?!?

I'm back into the PS OESV.  I seem to have found the sweet spot on this one (around 105 proof), so I'm sure this won't take too long!  :D

been drinking Stagg Jr over a little ice for the last few days.  Quite good cold and a little diluted.

Well, I hit the Big 4-0 today.  Fittingly I had an appointment with a foot doctor to deal with lingering plantar fasciitis and bursitis.  But leaving work early means coming home early, and I've queued up a healthy 2oz pour of PVW 20 to enjoy under the pergola.

I had a couple of pours of JTS Brown BIB after work today. Nice no brainer. What can I say? :P

Cheers! Joe

That's fantastic. Happy 40th. Enjoy the PVW

3rd day with the latest release of ECSB (136.0), and it is nothing less than spectacular.  A gorgeous heavy and sweet orange marmalade overtone.  Great mouthfeel.  Liqueurishly thick.  This sweetness only works because it has that 12 year in oak backbone that asserts itself in just the right amount to hold it all together...and, perfectly at that.  For my tastes, HH picked the honey-est of honey barrels for this release.

Two (2) great pours of ETL tonite -- boy, that stuff has really mellowed out in the open bottle from a couple of months ago.  Yummy!   :D

I've had my first bottle of larceny open for more than a year and didn't like it much as it's very different from the other wheated whiskeys on the market. It's really nice tonight although after my second glass, there still is some harshness I don't like. About a third of the bottle left.

Finishing off a bottle of Eagle Rare and opened a bottle of EC NAS this weekend. Sorry if I messed up the acronyms I can't find the link to the list.
