Found a store with some lower proof SAOS SB. Bought one at $56. If I like it I'll go back for more.

While looking for the latest release of ECBP, I found a cache of 1.75 liter Elijah Craig Small Batch 12 Year (12 on the back, not the front) at one of my frequent stops. $59.99 each so grabbed one even though its not one of my favorites. Fear that someday I'll enjoy it more than I do now and I'll have gone through my stash.

That's Jim Beam juice from post fire, I have one open from that as well as one Brown Forman, one new Bernheim and one pre fire Bardstown.

I've never gone further back than maybe 2004 or 2005 vintage on these.  How can you tell which ones are beam, BF, etc.? Taste?  Prefire and post fire are easy based on dates I assume...

Just noticed the difference between "Distilled in Kentucky, bottled by EW" and "Distilled and Bottled by EW" but how do you know the source of distilled in Ky between Beam, BF, and New Bernheim prior to HH acquisition?

New label ECBP and a High West Double Rye private selection for Berns Steakhouse that was finished in Quaddy Muscat barrels for 2 years. Supposedly they only did one Barrel of it as a special release just for Berns.

Thanks both of you!

I have already sampled each new barrel and they are all very good. The 60%is excellent. The 11 is great in a different way, the 56% had a slight kick, the 50.9% tasted like cherries, raisins and maple syrup to finish. I can't remember the 52%at this point.

Passed on a bottle of 1792 SB earlier this week, tonight I decided that I could pass no longer. A small reward for having to deal with and replace our refrigerator this evening. Needless to say, the credit card is now on fire.

There's documentation out there, but a long story short, anything before Nov. '96 is pre fire, '97 Jim Beam produced for them, '98 and '99 Brown Forman did until they could get the new Bernheim up to production in '00. Chuck Cowdery did a big write up on it. This might help:

I love that VA sells the 375's and that the price is less for two of those than for one 750 which makes no sense but I don't complain just get a case of 375's every 4-6 months and smile about it

OK, I'm done leaving money here in Northern Virginia!

A 1792 125 pf Full Proof, a Belle Meade 9yr Single Barrel 105.1pf Tennessee bourbon, a John J. Bowman Single Barrel 100pf Virginia bourbon, and all eight (8) Blanton's 375ml "grenades" of goodness.  Also in the picture are two (2) of the weekend warriors (a Hibiki Harmony and an OWA) that gave their all at family functions this week (including a Memorial service for my aunt at Arlington National Cemetery).  We had about 20 family members travel from Hawaii for the service in spite of the snow/sleet storms in DC.  Now that's "Ohana" , people!

KC was my first step into "Premium" bourbon back in 2004. Hoping this doesn't disappoint.

It shouldn't.  I've got one bottle that we bottled at the JB Distillery tour, which I haven't opened and two store selections that are 12+ and 13 yr. 9 mos.  Lots of flavor and I really like it.  Let us know what you think after partaking of it.

Nope, the first "N" has the right foreleg going backwards and the rear leg going forwards (around the turn).  The second "N" has both right legs going backwards in a full gallop to the finish.  They are different.

First and foremost sorry for your loss... I appreciate your Aunt's service

All great pickups If you've never had it the Belle Meade will be one you really like - it says Tennessee Bourbon but it's sourced likely from MGP but I've had several 9 yr SB's of it and have never been disappointed, the JJ Bowman is great as well IMHO and of course you already know the Blanton's - glad you were able to load up.
