What bourbon did you purchase today (winter 2016/17)?

Hit several "company stores" meaning VA and NC ABC today and was a little surprised by the 1.75 OWA in NC because it's only ever shown on the Special Order list but was told that they moved it to the regular list in the last month.  Specifically went looking for the Joseph Magnus in VA but had to pick up a few Blanton 375's while I was there and since I was in and out of so many stores I felt obliged to buy something in most of them so some regular drinkers found their way along.  Haven't had the 4R Yellow Label in a long time but I am really into some 4R Black Label export only that is just outstanding so I decided to pick this up as a substitute since I don't have a source in Japan for the Black Label

Since Joe posted a picture inside of his garage with his new barrel I decided to go with a garage shot myself - maybe Harry will do a "truck shot" someday??? [emoji4]

Wow a handle of Weller Antique 107 minus the old, didn't think those existed.

That's  one of the higher proof 11 year bottles I've seen. How is it?

To stay on topic, all this talk of Blanton's 375s lead me to grab one.

It's my first one and I haven't had as much experience as most around here with different bourbon. With that said probably the best whiskey I've ever had. Can't imagine how good it would be if Sarah labeled it.

You were probably wondering if we would notice.

We noticed.

Nice

Headed to Liquor Barn after breakfast with my wife and our daughter who is expecting our first grandchild in September.  Was hoping to get  an ECBP and maybe a Booker's, 2017-01, which my son and I had sampled at the JB Distillery tour.  By the time I got there they were out of everything that I was interested in except the Booker's.  I immediately grabbed a bottle (Limit one to a customer) and then went through the aisle looking for anything else that tickled my fancy.  Didn't see anything.  As I was going up front to pay they were taking down the table where they had set up for the specials.  I asked if there was a limit of one bottle on the Booker's and she said yes.  I told her the only reason I was interested in a second bottle is that I was wanting to buy one of the 2017 Booker Batches to give to my grandchild when he/she was born and, good Lord willing, open and share with them when they turn 21.  She just smiled and handed me the last bottle.

So this is where they're keeping all the Rebel Yell 10yr. One came home with me.

Wow, eleven cases worth. I haven't happened across a bottle. I look forward to seeing how you like it.

Holy hell, is that a new release?  It was rumored last fall that there were only 2000 cases 1st release.  The three I have were all bottled 9/2005.

The ECBP sold out in a couple of minutes at the Hamburg Liquor Barn.

I'm glad she helped you out on the Booker's. That will be a great gift for your grandchild. The box will help keep the bottle protected for 21 years. Congrats to you and your family on expecting the birth of your first grandchild. If your daughter lives in Louisville, I bet you'll be making even more trips there. Again, congrats.

This article claims that they will release 4,000 cases this year.

The price in this photo seems a little bit on the high end. I do want to find a bottle. This gives me hope that they will be popping up around town.

Is that pricing including the taxes I've seen you post about in Washington St?  It's $20 to $25 higher than we paid locally last year

Yeah, I know what you mean.  But I have to admire your self-restraint since I bought all eight (8) different tops.  Maybe you already have your other four (4)?  Almost pulled the trigger on the Joseph Magnus, but have never tried it and was hesitant to plunk down $91 + sales tax (oh, the horror!) for an expensive bottle I've never tasted.  Your courage astounds as well.   ;)

^^^ I would blame @GeeTen for me even buying more Blanton's but I knew when I crossed the state line that I'd wind up with more and like you I'm surprised at my restraint.  On the Magnus I was hestitant but after following and reading all the comments from Nancy in the Magnus thread it made it easier, I was thinking of trying it last night but my palate wasn't as clear as I'd like it to be prior to trying something new like that.

Picked up another RY10 for the bunker yesterday as well.  They had just gotten a case in and hadn't put it on the shelf yet, so the timing worked out.  Also grabbed another half bottle of MMCS

I haven't seen the RY10 anywhere near me. It hit the VA website but then disappeared. I figured it would show up as a lottery item or online order release but I must have completely missed it. I was hoping to track some down.

Did they just do another release of RY10?

I think so, yea.  A few weeks ago I read that stores here were expecting more in March.

That price includes taxes and we have the highest liquor taxes in the country.

This is from the first release. We get everything 3-4 months later out here.

This price includes taxes and we have the highest liquor taxes in the country (an obscene amount actually) but we also don't have state income tax so it balances out.

I'd trade no state income tax for higher liquor tax seven days a week. It looks like you all have a good supply of Rebel Yell 10 year.

It hasn't hit lottery or online order yet. If they get it I'm almost certain it will be lottery as just about everything is these days.

Texas is usually much later with releases also, but the one I got yesterday has a different barrel date than the others I have (09/06 vs 09/05) so that leads me to believe this is a new batch.
