We don't get DN in TX, but I thought they kept it at 100 proof, but dropped the BIB.

You sir are correct.  Not sure where I got 90 proof from.  Nonetheless, BiB is no more.  Guess I have a hard time believing it should be priced the same as OWA.

Hey no worries at all. Does it taste any different? I'd like to pick up a bottle when I'm back in IL on business. I've been told to hold out for the BIB, but I'm always open to other opinions.

Passed on WT Masters Keep Decades for the first time at $150. Was dissapointed as I have seen others find it for $120ish. But I do hear it is better than the first WTMK

Passed on BT Bourbon Cream @$22. Cheapest by $3 that I've seen around here and a store I only stop into every so often had a dozen bottles. I've got two unopened and figured I just didn't need anymore, but good price.

Wow....I've never seen a handle of OWA in the wild.  Kansas does have something going for it after all.

Great eye! I didn't realize that was a 1.75 until you mentioned it.  Not a bad price for a 1.75!

Wow, I'd have snagged that ECBP! Batch 12 is amazing to me and I only have 3 in the bunker to last the rest of my life...

A little hard to justify isn't it? Is it better than Stagg jr at 50 or two and a half bottles of McKenna or? 65 just seems high in relation to so much. Heck another store had three of em for 60 and in comparison to other options I just have a hard time scooping them up

12 year old barrel proof Elijah Craig for $65. Not hard to justify at all unless you have an unlimited supply nearby for much less. The comparison to Stagg Jr. at $50 doesn't matter unless you're happy drinking only one barrel proofer with any consistency. If you truly like Stagg Jr. that much better, then it' easy for you of course, but quite a few here consider ECBP a step up from Jr. (And that's not a knock on Jr.)

As per usual though, individual palates and inconsistent pricing in different regions of the country make this a very subjective matter.

Hi All my first post on here figured I'm come with some pics of my own, similar to this.

Passed on some OWA handles here in Houston. I just started this but $70 for a handle seemed high as it's relatively easy to find in Texas compared to most the country.

At $50 would've of stocked up. Also really would love to get my hands on barrel proof EJ.

Also passed on some Four Roses SB BS, store select from Spec's. it looks these are bottles they found lying around at another store, where bottled in 2015.

$70 seemed high and I've never had any 4Roses products. Picked up some regular single barrel which I liked but didn't find better than ER10 or Henry McKenna BiB.

Welcome! There are several other members on here from Texas. Weller Antique has become quite difficult to find in Lexington, whether handles or fifths. I wouldn't pay $70 for a handle of it, though, unless I was buying it to give to my father-in-law.

You say that you would like to find some barrel proof EJ. What is EJ? Did you mean to type EC for Elijah Craig?

^ thanks, sorry meant EC barrel proof.

Been looking for it everywhere and put myself down for the waiting list at Spec's here. Missed some 3-6 bottles one place got Friday or Thursday.

I passed on everything yesterday. :P Most notably, Hancock's, Bourye, EH Taylor Single Barrel, WT Masters Keep and WT Masters Keep Decades. First time seeing Hancock's and the WT's around these parts.

Cheers! Joe

For $60 I would have no hesitation loading up on ECBP. That batch is excellent, as they all are. I have a feeling we will be referring to it as ECBP12 pretty soon, as the age statement on the side would be easy to remove.

Nope, $65 for ECBP #12 which is one of my favorites and is disappearing from existence is not hard to justify at all.  I don't know about better than Stagg jr, I have a few of those as well (it's $54 here btw) and it's also one of my favorites... I've never thought of limiting myself to only lower price stuff...  I suppose if I were going to go that path I wouldn't be drinking Stagg jr either. or CEHT, or any BTAC or VW.   Hell, VOB is on sale in my LS for $15.99 / 1.75. Maybe we should all only drink that? But how could we justify that when KY Tavern sits right next to it at $11.99 / 1.75?

That's different than saying,  "A little hard to justify, isn't it?"

I hear you there. I spend more on bourbon than I should. I am thinking about instituting a $13 a week bourbon budget ( maybe $15 a week), starting in April. I have about 25 bottles now, so that kind of budget should be plenty for me. Some of my favorite bourbons are in the $30 range (Elijah Craig, Russell's Reserve, Four Roses Single Barrel) and I enjoy several bottles under $20 (Very Old Barton BIB, Old Fitzgerald BIB, Wild Turkey 101 is close to $20, etc.). I would like to splurge on something like a bottle of Wild Turkey Master's Keep before the budget begins. Regardless, I need to get my bourbon spending in check for my family's sake.
