I passed on a bottle of HW Bourye Limited Sighting yesterday. It was in the $83 range. That seems high to me, but I don't know the approximate number of bottles released. I really love the HW Double Rye, so I may really enjoy this bottle. It would be my most expensive bottle (by about $30), so I feel like I probably need to leave it on the shelf.

That's a bit high. There is a ton of it out there.

Do yourself a favor and taste it before you buy.

I love HW rendezvous & double rye, but I'll never buy boo-rye.

Just not my thing at all.

I love HMCK. At $50, I would have to pass too. I hope that its price isn't rising everywhere. Blanton's for $100? Was it a straight from the barrel?

At the TW right down the street HMCK was still $28.99 and I bought a Blanton's at that TW last week for $55. Nope..it was regular Blanton's for $99.99. This is the same place that has EC12 age stated on back for $90 and OWA for $70! But I did get their store pick 1792FP for $45 so go figure.

walked into a random store as I was in the city today, had a decent selection, but most was overpriced... then the guy points out he has W12... for FUCKING $150!!!  I laughed at him and said no thanks, but then he's like, we have WSR on the shelf too, and I asked well how much?  $50... laughed my way out of the store.  thanks but no thanks.

^Unbelievable need to come to Houston, handles of WSR are under $30.

WSR is the probably the most plentiful bourbon in this town. There's places where the customers don't drink bourbon and the only bourbon on the shelf is WSR.

OWA, I've seen anywhere from $22 to $30 for a fifth. I saw handles one time for $70 which is nuts. It's getting very hard to find but all is relative, probably still 10 times more available than any other market based off my very uneducated estimate.

From what I understand when the now Buffalo Trace distillery bought The Weller brand they pushed it hard in Texas back in the 80s and it's still popular to this day and the popularity has little to do with the Pappy craze that drives the demand elsewhere. I think Texas was one of the only markets that had a marketing campaign for Weller way back in the day and Texas still gets a large allocation.

All that being said the unquestionable king of whiskey here is Crown Royal, people love that crap down here. I'm totally cool with that leave the good Kentucky bourbon for me. Also they love the "Texas" branded crap Yellow Rose and Rebecca's Creek, both seemed to be modeled after Crown Royal.

Passed on a few yesterday - an email about EHTSmB, and  WT Decades I passed on because I have it on hand and I'd rather others had chances at it - ER10 on the shelf again I'm stocked so I passed - other than that nothing struck me as a must buy which is happening more and more often

I would of picked up a couple of bottles of the old bottle Rittenhouse for $22, worse case they are awesome in old fashions.

yea, it was crazy, I can sometimes find WSR for $20 if I look hard enough, but I honestly don't think it's that great of a bourbon.  I did use it to make some apple cinnamon infused bourbon and that turned out great.  You guys do seem to get an abundance of Weller 12 down in TX tho, so I'd def stop by for that!

My store emailed and asked if they needed to put my name on a CEHT SmB. Told them I had one open and one in reserve so they should let someone else enjoy it. Also, let me know they got the WT Master's, Widow Jane and Hudson Baby. All out of my price range.

Found a bunch more OWA today that I passed on and my theory that Kansas got a literal flood of Orphan Forged Oak keeps proving to be more true.

Interesting.... Same could be said about western New Jersey - I saw  shelves of almost every liquor store 6+ deep of Forged Oak and MWND 4.4

Shouldn't everyone pass on Hudson Baby Bourbon, that stuff is pretty rough

I've been passing on the Stagg Jr for months at about $53 a bottle at the local grocery store. Reviews online seemed somewhat mixed. I was in San Francisco recently at a whiskey bar and ordered a dram, which was quite good. Now I'm sad because I can't find it locally anymore.
