Haven't been able to find this

ECBP_zpsyfmau83n.jpeg for underr $100.00 until today. My local Kroger had it as a store managers pick for $60.  Grabbed it as soon as I saw it.  It wears its 127 proof proudly.  Strong acetone on the nose as soon as you pour it, but that goes away within a minute.  A lot of flavor that sticks around for awhile (heavy on the vanilla, kind of sweet in the middle, not as much oak as I would have figured and light pepper on the end.  Legs so strong it almost climbs out of the glass.  At 127 proof it burns all the way down.

^thats crazy how it just piped up at your local Kroger. Didn't they release the latest batch back in February? Either I'm jealous haven't seen any ECBP.

I think maybe released in March.  I know Liquor Barn had it, Booker's Batch 2017-01 & some others one Saturday.  By the time I got there all I got was two bottles of Booker's (one for me and one for my first grandchild, due in September and to be opened by them on their 21st birthday).  I had seen a few bottles lately ($100 - $110) so I was surprised to see this last night.  Talking to one of the guys in the store he said they order what they want to but Kroger corporate ships stuff on allocation and they really don't know what they're going to get of the limited availability stuff.  Will probably regret not picking up all 3 bottles but I decided I shouldn't hoard and leave some for Kyjd75.

I just noticed in this pic the bottle on the left is OC8 yr with the age statement placed diagonally across the label. Anyone know when they switched to the newer label? Any chance this was bottled before BT took over production? Thanks in advance.

Sazerac acquired the old charter brand from united distillers in 1999.  All of my bottles with that label are marked Frankfort and have 02 or 04 on the bottom.  That would be bottled by Buffalo Trace.  At 8yrs old it would have been distilled well before the brand changed hands.

It came with high reviews here. It snuck up on me quickly due to the proof. I like it, but I think it could stand to be a bit cheaper. There is a pretty good amount of ethanol burn. For bourbons with higher proof, I prefer Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, and Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Those two have much better flavor to me and less burn. I like spice burn, but the Prohibition Style is more of an ethanol burn. I actually prefer the Old Forester Single Barrel (which is half the price) over the Prohibition Style. A lot of people on here love it, though. YMMV. I can get Wild Turkey Rare Breed for about $20 cheaper around here and that is what I will do next time.

Ive had my bottle open for about 4-5 weeks now, & its halfway down. The strong burn it had when i opened it has mellowed quite a bit, and now neat is all flavor with only the slightest burn. Well worth the 49.95 I paid for each of them.

I took a couple of pics the older bottle has an 01 among some other numbers. Newer bottle numbers are much harder to make out but look like an 07 and 095, nothing else.

Curious when Buffalo Trace bought the brand did they get the stock as well? Guessing no.

I'm pretty sure that when a brand is sold, the stocks go with it.

Cheers! Joe

If the brand was sold in 99 I guess both had United Distillers product.

A beautiful 70° day in NW Indiana, front porch, finished a generous Evan Williams BIB Old Fashioned. Needed a little something more. Have a bottle of Woodinville Whiskey Bourbon I've been working on since Christmas. Poured a finger or two in my tumbler. Lord, words cannot express just how awful this stuff tastes. It ended up in the landscaping. Since this is a "what bourbon are you enjoying" thread I returned to my stash and poured some RR10 in a Glencarin and headed back to the porch. That's better, but I really wish I'd poured the WTRB. Guess I'm just feeling crotchety today.

I decided to give this one yet another try tonight. I'm finally enjoying this bottle. It took some time, but it was worth it.

The only other decision for me tonight is which PPV to buy, Hacksaw Ridge or UFC.

My palate has been off for about three weeks. I lost the ability to pick up sweet tastes in my whiskey. ER, ETL, OWA, EHTSmB. All my usual Buffalo Trace products and no sweet, let alone the spicy things like FRSiB and WT101. I've rested my palate. Made sure to brush my tongue when brushing my teeth. Finally, earlier this week the whiskey started to taste right. I had some RHF the other night at a bar. Last night some baby saz. Both tasted correct. Tonight it's Stagg Jr. and it's phenomenal. Now that it's pretty available I feel it doesn't get enough attention around here for what it is. Fifty or sixty bucks. High proof. Lots of flavor and complexity. I'm going to follow it up with some Blanton's SFTB and enjoy my rejuvenated palate.

Out for friends for dinner at a Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives (Salud) place in NoDa (Charlotte) then walked around a bit, enjoyed the weather with coffee sitting outside Smelly Cat Coffee House then back home.  Just sat down to finish up a little work and poured a glass of BT store selection

Good suggestion I do really enjoy rare breed and ECBP, although the later is difficult to find in the Dallas area. Rare breed on the other hand is easy to find and very affordable.

I took my son to watch Black Jacket Symphony perform _Rumors_ by Fleetwood Mac. I had some Maker's Mark on the rocks and it tasted a little off in a plastic cup (it was also the last of the bottle).

I'm hoping for WSR to come on top, need unrefined tastes, saves me time and money.

Haha! Yes, agreed. The Maker's 46 would be a good addition, but you've got a good spread there.

edit: my money's on the 107 holding its own.

Need to have wife setup one more tasting as I'm nearly convinced when she put them down I was checking color and mixed up WSR and W12. I compare the eye and legs but really rating is based on nose, palate/taste and finish. Did a score of 1 to 5.

4 WSR, believe I mixed with W12
3.5 OWA
3 RY10
3 W12 ranked as 3 but felt the RY10 glass was slightly better
1.5 Makers Mark

I really liked all with the exception of Makers Mark this stuff was terrible compared to others. Will do another blind taste to confirm I didn't mix up WSR and W12.

For eye/color felt WSR, W12, OWA where all similar and MM and RY10 slightly lighter.

For legs thought RY10 stood out as the best and MM stood out as the worst. All Weller products where comparable.

One more time just WSR to W12.

Rooting for WSR.

Fail definitely mixed them up the first time W12 is the winner and WSR comes in fourth.

OWA would benefit from a few drops of water and put it closer to W12.

RY10 came in 3rd but definitely different and worth picking up another bottle especially since it's a single barrel.

They most certainly did acquire those stocks. This is where some of the early BTAC came from.
