Granted it was only a domestic flight, but still I have a suggestion for you. Put your bottles in gallon sized ziploc bags if they fit, and then wrap them in something. Towels or blue jeans seem to work pretty well. Never had a problem. Cheers! Joe

Harry in WashDC
Beacon Bourbon, 100 proof, 2(?) years old, distilled and bottled by Dennings Point Distillery, Beacon, New York. Went to our "regular" restaurant tonight and noticed a "new" bottle with an aqua "wax" top among the bourbons (picture below). OF COURSE, I had to try it. It was young and a little sharp - a lot of raw oak. The label says is it made from corn, rye, and barley. I'm sure glad they let me know. As you can surmise (a fancy word that sort of means "guess" or "reckon"), I did not order a second. In its defense, I guessed it was 1.5 to 2 years old and aged in small casks; the bartender asked me what I thought; I told her I hope I live long enough to taste their 10 year old bonded and asked for a LARGE basic BT neat as a chaser (ASIDE - they usually have BT around since I ask for it a lot). A visit to the Beacon Bourbon website (also below) confirmed my own surmises - about two years old and aged in, maybe, 10, 30, and 53 gallon new white American oak barrels (I'm guessing from the toothpick edginess I tasted that the one I tasted was on the smaller end of the three). They are putting their own mash in their own 250 gallon Vendome still. MSRP about $40-45. If you like slightly aged, well-made, young bourbon @ that price, go for it - it is better than most at that age and price. Beacon Bourbon, 100 proof, 2 yrs old (maybe), distilled and bottled by Denning's Point Distillery, Beacon (across the river from Newburgh near where the ferry used to dock), New York. www.denningspointdistillery.com
Richnimrod
Hmmm, interesting shaped bottle. Uninspiring label design, however. I wonder how widely it's distributed? Not that I'm searching for it, yet maybe when I turn 75 or so.....

I wonder how widely it's distributed? Not that I'm searching for it, yet maybe when I turn 75 or so..... Is my thought exactly - 75. The person in charge of stocking the restaurants (one pizza/family/craft beer and the other regular full service, regular menu) likes tequila and rum a lot more than he does whiskey (which I don't think he drinks, really). He also likes "new" offerings. I think this was a "new" thing he thought the whiskey drinkers might find interesting. Hence, I would bet it this got put in the "curiosity" box by one of the wholesalers here (WashDC being a two-tier market: wholesalers and retailers; no liquor control to speak of beyond licensing) and the shiny blue top got noticed by a tequila drinker. And now for something completely different -- Today I replenished my OGD BIB stash and my JB BIB stash (picking up two each - OGD @ $20 per and the JB @ $17 per) and then on a whim picked up two OF 1897 BIB's @ $47 each. THAT ought to hold me though the weekend.

El Vino
ER10 after a long, hard short week... Full of vanilla and light barrel notes. A private selection from Bayway (Barrel #365) from a couple of years ago. On the lighter side. Not especially "complex", just tastes good.

Journeyman
A bought a KCSB Store Pick today. I like KC9 a lot, but this is my first purchase of their single barrel. I generally add water to bring things down to 50% ABV, so I'm not sure if my average taste buds will know the difference.
