I finally organized my stash in a more secure fashion than cardboard boxes on the basement floor.

The shelves needed some reinforcement to be able to hold the weight of the bottles. It two holes and two extra bolts per shelf did the trick.

I'm still working on building up my bunker. Most (other than the Maker's, Bulleit, PVW 15, Lot B, Black Maple Hill, Basil Haden's, EWSB 2000, and Scotch) have been purchased since January. I'm hoping that I can find some dusties soon to add to my collection.

I will try and get some better pics. Also all my back up bottles are stored away. Thinking about getting them all out for a nice group photo. ... Just don't want to scare the wife too much more!

Great stash. I noticed the wine gas preserve. Do you use those for Whiskey, and if so, do you like the results? Just curious.

Scott,

I see you put the good stuff on the second shelf from the top.

I like the locks on those.

Sure do. I for whatever reason really seem to pick up on oxidation. Don't get me wrong there are ones that I let breathe longer before I gas. Most wheaters for example.

But I wanted to be able to have as many opened as I wanted without ever having to worry about the profiles changing too drastically. It's relatively cheap (bought a case of 12).

I've been using this method for several years and the results have been great. Since using it I have never had an off bottle.

I also take it a step further and often bottle the last 4 oz into a little 4 oz glass bottle, and stick a label on it. This has only slightly helped the nagging feeling to quickly replace a finished bottle. But also good for:

- going back to for comparison

- having little treats ready to go if the need should arise

- giving to friends to sample

Finally assembled shelves and gave my bottles a little dignity. This is in my gun shop, thus the exposed insulation.

There are another dozen or so in the house that are open. I mean to add to this significantly this year. I will make a cabinet with locking doors for the expensive stuff.

Why you hidin' the Mellow Corn? Probably the best bottle on the table.

Don't want folks to see it cause if they stop by they will want it... try to keep some of the better stuff tucked away.....

Ryan, where did you get those shelves at? I am in need of something just like it (only a little smaller).

They sell that style shelf at most of the big home renovation places. I know for a fact that Lowes has a large and small version in black and chrome. I had to purchase 8-10 of them for our storage room at work. Bed Bath and Beyond also carries them, but only in chrome and I think they only have 1 size.

Lowe's. I don't really like them as the individual shelf wires are very flexible an will allow the bottles to rock back and forth. Some sort of solid shelf overlay will be in order. But other than that, they're cool for $50. I think they will hold probably 120 - 130 bottles. I think I have about 50 or so there - the number keeps changing.

Now we know who bought all the ETL15!!!:bigeyes:

I don't think that's the 15, I think it's "regular" ETL. ???

Thank you both for the shelf info. My bunker and open bottles are growing wildly out of control. I am totally out of room on the bar. I have them all in liquor boxes and stored in the closet. It's time to put them on display.

Sounds like a robbery waiting to happen. Be careful.

I appreciate the concern, but I'll probably be okay. When I say, "wildly out of control", that really means about 1/100th of the average SB member's collection. I have about 50 bottles tops. Have just outgrown the space I usually keep them in.

I also live in a second story condo, so no one will really be able to see it, except me and the Wife.
