An insane day is requiring something special to bring things back into focus.  A generous pour of GBS 15yr ECBP fills that bill perfectly.  Perhaps, the "Amnesia Bottle" can help me forget this nonsense.  ^_^

After a rather busy weekend, I'm finally kicking back with a couple of celebratory pours of 07 WLW. I'm celebrating because I bought a new vehicle yesterday. :o

A couple of years ago I sold my beloved 2005 Pontiac Aztek. It was affectionately known as "The Bourbonmobile".  I know a number of members here will remember it. When I posted (with pics) about selling my Aztek, Smokinjoe posted: Dang, Joe!  I know that had to hurt to let go of the Rolling Copper Tequila Still (Rolling Copper Bourbon Still is already taken, I think. :D).  Where does one even go in trying to replace an Aztec? :P  Well, it took a couple of years, but here's how. ^_^

I am now the proud owner of a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I'm pretty certain that my Tucson will never even come close to seeing the amount of bourbon my Aztek did. Somehow I think that I'll still probably refer to it as "The Bourbonmobile 2".  The pics below say it all. :D

This is still my favorite pic of the "Rolling Copper Tequila Still"...  :D

Go heavy on the salt with that Snake Bite, Amigo!

I’m watching the first episode of Breaking Bad. Walter pulled into school in his Aztek, and this forum is the first thing I thought of. Cheers to internet bourbon compadres!

The future Misses did a blind pour for me of the 3 BT mash bills.

the 2 is considerably lighter than the others.

my rankings:

Nose: 3, 1, then 2

taste: 1, 3, then 2.

overall the taste order was my preference.

I was surprised to find out the Blanton’s came in last. EHT SIB barely won out over W12. I wish I had a bottle of Blanton’s Gold so I could do it, EHT SIB, OWA

These blind tastings are a great way to keep your biases in check.

Finally got around to trimming the tree.  Had a pour of OGD 114 while putting on the ornaments.  Afterwards some basic BT while admiring our decorating ability.

Final pour of a KC 9yr. Its been hitting it out of the park for the past few days. I haven't tried the NAS KC yet but the 9yr really is a great pour for the (former) price. Glad I stocked up.

Followed with a 4RSiB. One pour left. This one has also been stellar the past few days.

Finishing with a 1792 SW. When you are in the midst of an exceptional palate run, you can follow a high rye bourbon with a wheater and it still tastes great.

Enjoying some Russell's single barrel store pick tonight, trying to wash the Noah's mill (from my advent calendar) out of my mouth.

Fresh berries, cream, & vanilla on the Russell's.

Noahs still tastes like peanuts & death to me....

Locals running to their cars to get this bottle should go back inside... It's unfortunately gone.

But I'd share with you.  :)

Enjoying my second pour of ECBP batch #12 136 proof neat tonight and it is really hitting the spot. Sometimes I need to add a small bit of water, but I'm having one of those high proof palate nights where the high proof is just what I'm wanting, so it's all neat tonight. This is a fantastic bourbon, so I'm glad that I have a few more bottles of this batch as back up when this is gone.

A second flight of these three I cracked the other day:

OESF, 115.2 proof, 11yr 2m old

OESO, 116.4 proof, 10yr 9m old

OESQ, 113.6 proof,  9yr 6m old

I've always found it very difficult to detect a discernible nose on newly opened FR bottles, be it LEs or the regular releases. These are the same, not much to smell except for very faint typical bourbon aromas and alcohol vapors. Taste wise, all three feel very thick and heavy, full-bodied, oaky (you can tell the age) with lots and lots of rye despite the E recipe. Like the nose, I find it very difficult to pick up individual notes. At a very high level:

F is noticeably hot compared to the rest, but it is also immediately delicious with caramel and custard. The finish in one word: cornbread.

O is cloyingly perfumey, kinda like your typical room spray. I get the same thing from the SmB, and unfortunately I'm not a fan of that.

Q is weird in a good way, it's like I dropped a sour patch into my bourbon.

This is my typical experience with FR, not being able to properly taste newly opened bottles :) What I like so far is that all three are distinct enough to keep me interested. I know by previous FR experience that they'll open up nicely, so I should probably let them sit on display for a few weeks now.

just opened a bottle of 2016 Forty Creek barrel select.  I'm adjusting to the low corn content.

Working on low fill bottles and a new one.

Started with OWA in the old label bottle. One or two pours left. Tasting exactly how you'd hope this one to taste. Full mouthfeel, caramel and toffee with a bit of cinnamon.

Followed with 4RSiB. Then a private barrel pick of RRSiB. Then a freshly cracked JDSiBBP - and wow, is this one good.
