On the back of that WFE, does it say where it was distilled (IN or KY or ??) ? Word around town is that bottle was pretty darn expensive at the gift shop. I don't think you did too bad at all on the take home presents.

HoustonNit
Trying to figure out who’s this is... Most seem to believe it’s Dickel. Never had it can’t say. I’m always curious why everyone assumes something from Tennessee couldn’t be sourced from JD, they must have a unbelievable amount of barrels and probably haven’t been as impacted as most by the increase in bourbon demand. Also it almost all goes into a youngish 80proof product.

Dabbings
I would bet $$ on Kirkland being Dickel, it has that signature vitamin taste

Your collection looks like you've been buying Willet a while. How much would that bottle have run back in the day?

How much would that bottle have run back in the day? Yep, I've been buying from them for a while. Had this been back in 2010/2011 which I'd say is when this boom really started to take off, the bottle probably would have been $220-250. I have a 21yr that I purchased back in 2011, I think, that has a price tag of $179.00 on it so that's where my guestimate comes from. Just for reference, the 13-14 year WFE run in that $160-180 price range today, possibly even a little higher. I don't fault them for raising the prices at all, they still sell out in a matter of hours so it is just good business on their part.
gurgalunas
Had a free day, so I wandered to the south side of KC to shop some KS stores. Really didn't have much I was looking for. Had stopped by one of my regular LS earlier and visited with the distributor that handles Beam. I'd hoped to find a Bookers "Sip Awhile", but he said it hadn't shown up on the MO side of town. First stop, found RY10SiB for the first time. I've heard about it a lot here, so decided to give it a go for $61. Hope I didn't overpay... Found the Sip Awhile too, but for $70. Bookers is routinely on sale for $60 closer to home. OGD114 was $19, so grabbed one to vat with WSR. I did find a Sip Awhile at one of the later stops more reasonably priced, so I grabbed one. Passed on a KC Whiskey Society PS of Magnus at $99 though.

It was my last day off before returning to work on Monday so I stopped by Maryland and noticed that they had it. I have no faith in VA ABC getting it in the next 3 months and even then it will likely go to their lottery. The only problem now is that I'm missing the 225th. kcgumbohead
After an unexpected windfall thanks to a NYE gig there was suddenly a boubon budget available. I opted for OF1920 not sure how much longer this will be around but have seen enough love thrown its way here on SB I pulled the trigger. The bunker is more than adequately stocked so any purchase going forward will be to expand the selection and judiciously so vs. volume building, Glad to have added this one. reeko
Hit up a new liquor store today, not a bad selection. Nothing too luxurious, but I love having them. I saw some 1920 full proof, I may need to buy a few. Tried it for the first time last year and loved it. It is one of my favorite recent additions in the bourbon world. I was lucky enough to grab a couple of bottles before Christmas on sale for $36 each. Same store has a shelf full for on sale for $45. I believe it suppose to be a regular offering.

I was there this fall and was annoyed that they didn’t have any WFE bottles in the gift shop at the time. But if this had been available at the time, I can’t say I would’ve pulled the trigger without an opportunity to try it first. That’s one of my Willett issues though. So much Barrel to barrel variation and you almost always have to commit to purchasing without being able to try it first, as often it’s gone from the gift shop before anyone has time to open a bottle and try it. Good for you though if you can afford it and have faith in all things Willett
fishnbowljoe
Well, I lasted five days into the new year. While I did pass up a couple of decent things last Monday, I didn't yesterday. I grabbed a couple of OWA's thanks to a heads up from my nephew. Thanks Mike! Biba! Joe

Good for you though if you can afford it and have faith in all things Willett I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that it is likely that the number of bottles from this barrel that get opened will be very low indeed. This is not just a bottle of bourbon, but rather a trophy... While I don't collect WFE bottles, I respect those who do, and I understand the mentality (looks at his cases of High West & SAOS).
