Had some Rowan's Creek last night while watching movies, it was fantastic.  Chocolate covered cherries and vanilla.

I got a little of that too.  You wouldn't think as a small batch they would be bad?  I'm looking forward to opening the bottle of Noah's Mill I have stashed as well.

Baker’s before an early bedtime before an early wake up. I said in an earlier post that I would put Blanton’s up in any International whiskey competition as the American Whiskey representative...Well, if Blanton’s couldn’t make the post, I wouldn’t flinch sending Baker’s in there to run.  Beam is just killing it with this whiskey.

I love this stuff and it's readily available here.  I'm constantly amazed at how the flavor profile changes over time, some very tasty stuff!

Digging deep into that Bourye these days. I'm going through a phase where I find most bourbon too sweet, the rye in the mix here calls to me.

Liking the Baker's love!

Cracked an ECBP this evening. Well it is Tuesday after all. Cheers!

Decided it was time to hit the ECBP as well tonight. Had a good pour of A118 which has been open for a about two months now. It seems to be getting better with more air time.

I had that myself a month or so ago, I found my way out overdoing it with peat.

I put a solid dent into a 1L WT101 this past weekend. It’s not glamorous, rare, or exotic, but perfectly suits this thread, because I’ve been enjoying the hell out of it.

It’s been several months since I’ve had it, and I don’t intend to allow that much time to lapse again before my next bottle. Fantastic bourbon, and likely the best value on the shelf IMO. And I love that it hasn’t succumbed to the current wave of bourbon trendiness by compromising its integrity or jacking up its MSRP.

I’d like to get a fancy decanter and keep this in it on display as my “house bourbon” just to observe guests’ blind impressions and reactions when they learn what it is.

I am enjoying the HECK out of this EW BiB.  This latest batch with the faux tax strip is REALLY good.  Better than I remember this ever being.  The nose smells like a Heath Bar or Almond Roca tastes - toffee and milk chocolate with some nuttiness.  Captivating.  Great spice on the palate with a great finish.   Under $13 at my local Safeway!   I went back today and cleared the shelf.

I wish I could try HH BiB to see similar or different it is than this.

Having a store pick of George Dickel 9y (local store Lake Street Liquor) from about 6 or 7 years ago. Love it.

I dont know if I like this batch better than the previous 116 and 112, but it sure is tasty.

Good luck to all the NC, SC, VA, GA and other SBers that may be Florenced over the next few days.

Some OBSQ sbsbs action tonight.

Left to Right

A: 9y5m 62.3%

B: 8y5m 60.2%

C 8y5m 58.4%

Oh so similar, yet distinctly different.

I think my bottle is the most well balanced, with equal parts of floral, wood, & caramel.

The middle one (B) drinks more like an OESQ, having less spice.

Preference is A, C, then B.

Anyway, this is what makes 4R super fun :)

Found this one hiding in the back top shelf of the pantry today. Sometimes those short bottles get forgotten in the back behind other bottles.

Everyone's first step towards achieving bourbon zen is the realization of how good and much of a value that WT101 is.

Snap a photo of the batch code for me. I too have come across a better than usual batch.
