Saw a a customer select bottling of Highwest Double Rye Finished in Chardonnay cask for one year. It was a single barrel at 50% abv.

Anyone ever try a bottle like this with High West?

I have a bunch of finished Double Ryes, Pinot, Congac, Tequila, MWND, Bourbon Cask, and maybe a couple others all are interesting and some are fantastic.

Was cruising around Memphis yesterday and did some bourbon surfin' - passed on a lonely bottle of Blantons for $80, Stagg Jr for $70, and a few slightly dusty bottles of Old Ezra 101 for $33 each.   On the way back stopped at a LS in Sherwood I've occasionally stopped at a few times - Stagg JR for $100. Won't be stopping  back again.

lcpfratn and/or myself might be able to narrow the field down for you on your Memphis runs :)

Hmmm, well I just might PM you sometime when I'm heading back that way, if that's ok.  Wss hoping 1792bib might have appeared like it had the same time last year, but alas, no joy.  Also was a little disappointed in a place or two, seemed like some prices were getting a little inflated...

What did you think of the Pinot?

It's probably my second favorite of the bunch after the Bourbon Cask, I pretty much pick them up regardless of the finish at this point.

So far I've passed on going into a liquor store this year in order to try and work down the bunker.  We'll see how long this lasts.

Today I passed on Eagle Rare @ $49.99/bottle, Baby Saz @ $49.99/bottle, EHT SmB @ $79.99/bottle, and a wall full of other bourbons that I am sure were overpriced but I didn't care to ask any further. I asked if they ever get any OWA and they said when the next round of it comes in they are expecting to have it priced at either $79.99 or $89.99. As much as I want to stock up on OWA I am not paying that crazy of a price for it.

Cream of Kentucky was briefly available.  I love Jim but the mediocre reviews made the price too high especially given that I'm trying to buy fewer bottles.

Okay, so who’s gonna start the pool?   I was gonna try pretty much the same thing this year. I made it somewhere between 7-10 days before caving.    But seriously, best of luck B.

That is terribly high for owa, I picked up two last week for $40 a bottle. I talked to the manger today asked if they had any left, he said the barrel they got was gone inside the first hour after they announced in email at 10am that Saturday morning. I was just luck to have been there when they had it.

OGD BIB appeared at a local grocery store.  I will go back for several next time they have the spirits sale.  Mbroo knows what I'm talking about.

I think it was last year that I tried to go all January without buying anything. I did pretty good but ended up caving about 25th or so.

Makes me feel okay about the binnys pick OWA for $29.99 today. Just because something is a store pick doesn’t mean you have to lose your mind and spend a crazy amount

Yesterday I hit Party Source, but left empty-handed. Other than the New Riff selections I didn’t see anything much different than I can buy at home. As for New Riff, it’s decent but a couple years young IMO. I like what they’re doing over there though and can’t wait to see what the next few years bring. I also snapped a pic for good measure.

I passed on some OWA107 today. My usual store got a new batch in today and wanted $52 a bottle!!! I told them no thanks and they completely understood why I was passing. Grabbed some WRS and ECBP instead. I like the Weller lineup just as much as the next guy. Probably a little less than Joe, but I hope they become shelf turds at that price. I fear this will not be the case and very happy I have lots of it in the bunker.

My last few bottles of OWA were hot crap. Even unbelievably unloaded a couple of my Store Picks to a friend who was trying to get a couple. I seem to have better luck with non PS OWA. When u get a good one their great but I wont be paying $52.

I've passed at $30 a bottle. Sad thing is people are willing to pay $80 on secondary.

WSR. Local had it behind the counter. I’ve always had a good relationship with him but I may have literally laughed out loud when he said 39.99. Same place has Stagg Jr. for 49.99. I’m so confused with crazy prices these days.

I got my one and only bottle of OWA at my local packy Christmas of 2017 for $29. Still have about a quarter bottle. Tried to get some this past Christmas and no luck. But they did have a bottle of W12 for me but it was higher priced around $45. Yesterday I stop in to get a regular bottle of BT for the shelf and sitting top shelf is 6 bottles of OWA for $49. Almost grabbed one but then I decided to pass. I'm sure they will sell but like others I'm not happy with the price increase. I'm happy to sip on my WT101. Who knows though. I might cave and make a return trip. ?

At retail? If those are on the shelf and you can share I know a guy that wouldn't mind liberating them :)

Sorry, they walked out the door immediately after I passed. Never made the shelf.
