marshall9779
Was in the mood for a chilled pour but don’t do ice so I broke out the stainless whiskey stones for the first time in a while. Hit the spot.

dad-proof
SBS of ET BIB and OF Statesman. Enjoying both, and can appreciate the differences, but it reaffirms how good a value the ET BIB, to my taste.
jwperry
Vacation since last Saturday.Vacation bourbon has been RR10. Such a smooth, easy pour for me. Ironically, the rum(Appleton Signature)/vodka(Tito's)/tequila(Milagro Plata) drinkers all tell me my spirit is too harsh. lolz

Tuesday afternoon I made the 7hr drive up to Reno to visit a friend that recently moved up there and has been speaking very positively of the virtues of Reno. Thought I’d take a look. Spent the night in a mining town about halfway between the cities. I’m an oddball I love the dry Summer desert weather along with the mountainous barren landscape. I had plenty of comped low end bourbon. Plain old JB White is solid bourbon. I also got hustled and got either 81 proof WT or blended swill at the Golden Nugget poker room. I’m a huge Turkey fan but the 81 proof doesn’t hold up. MM is way underrated. Good times. The baseball bets covered my poor poker play and craps habit. Great pics.! Man I have not been to Vegas in forever (or about 5 years). Oldest is turning 4 in the fall no obvious connection there. I get 100% of my bourbon money from the felt so maybe we should get a game going haha . . . If you crushed baseball that's fantastic.
El Vino
Needed to bust out of a slump. This gem from the bunker is everything I hoped it would be: what a great pour!

My kid is almost 5, was able to make a trip when he less than a year old and first trip since. Cool that you can make enough off cards to cover your bourbon habit. I can’t get in the volume and my poker game has a lot of rust. My records say I’m break even to maybe making minimum wage, I play to tight for today’s NL cash game. I’m guessing you mostly play cash? $1/$2, $1/$3 NL holdem?

JakeySnakes
Started out with 1792 BIB. First pour out of the bottle had good nose and was pretty tasty, but with a short dry finish. I'll give this one a little time. Now onto a glass of Old Ezra 7 Barrel Strength, which I really, really like.

Used to put in 200-300 live hours per year, but haven't played for a long while. I have been craving a Vegas trip too. Never really looked for good bourbon bars or retailers there. I'd imagine there's some good selections in the nicer casinos, but Vegas prices are typically so bad...

Certainly a casual player who understands basic concepts of math and human tendencies, which in 10 years ago poker climate meant I was a winning player. Brian still seems to get in good volume at low to mid stakes cash and seems to be crushing these levels. I think if you’re willing to go off strip and do a little hunting there’s a lot of potential to find some interesting bottles for purchase and consumption at bars and stores in Vegas. There’s also a bottler/distiller downtown,https://www.nevadadistilling.comThey’ve seemed to have procured some good barrels of MGP that can be had at a decent price in the 2019 market. The owner seems quite eclectic and the bottles are this pretty cool old western style, which I appreciated. I almost went but timing didn’t work out. I had thought about driving out into the middle of nowhere in the desert and gazing at the best star gazing skies in the country with a bottle of this stuff but oh well next time.

Someone asked me if I'd open anything special. I've been thinking a 1792 RR private pick from a few years ago is a likely candidate, but then had to remind them that the great thing about sharing whiskey is THAT makes it special. We could be sipping WT101, but the fact we're sharing it together would bump it up several rungs. That said - the good stuff also is even better
