CardsandBourbon
Ok, so your wife/best friend/drinking buddy didn't get you that bottle that you wanted so you went out and purchased it for yourself. What was it?
Marekv8
I was trying to support two small local shops faced with a forthcoming Total Wine, but maybe I got a little carried away…

Harry in WashDC
I'm guessing Marekv8 WANTS to help put the store owner's kids through college.
NDN98
Had a pretty good day hitting up a few stores north of the Red River yesterday. No BTAC or anything like that, but I picked up a Little book Chapter 4, Elijah Craig BP C920, Weller Antique, Makers 101, Makers 2020 Limited Release (SE4XPR5), and a Woodford Reserved Double Oaked Store Pick. All at retail pricing. Looking forward to trying the Makers 101, because I have not seen it in my area.

Nice haul. Did JD do a "heritage barrel" release this year? otherwise, what are those JD bottles?

I believe instead of the Heritage they did this special release. Its the barrel proof single barrel rye. The photo didn't capture the green label so it' hard to see. But I highly recommend picking this up, I'm really enjoying it.

Good to see the hype is real on the JD. What ryes would you compare the profile to?

Well that's just it, I wouldn't. I haven't done any sbs with the JD yet, but to me it tastes more like a very good NCF bourbon than any straight rye I can remember. If I had to go by memory the closest rye would be the Knob Creek cask strength limited editions. Although my first experience with this JD bottle puts it clearly ahead of the KC. The JD has near elite mouthfeel.

lemonman
Hit a couple little places in the area I'd not been to before hoping to find BT for a reasonable price; no such luck. But I did pick up a WT101 for 19.99 (lowest I've seen otherwise is 21.99 here), and a VOB 100 (rare or overpriced around around here). Familiar with the WT, but new to the VOB; having some now...it's interesting!
BottledInBond
I picked up a HM10 and an EHTSmb just for the hell of it. I haven’t drank any EHT for quite a while besides sampling their LEs I’ve the last few years
Clueby
Picked up a Charter 101 "traveler". Its already been decanted into the glass bottle I keep on hand for just that. Saw the Freddie's Root Beer and couldn't pass it up. Grabbed a backup Bourbon Cream while there since the one I have will probably go quick with root beer floats!
