Joe Opened up the MM today and I have to say, quite impressed. To set the record straight, I am NOT a MM fan, at all. To me, the basic MM is one noted and thin. I have had the MM46 and enjoyed it a lot so maybe there's hope for me down the road to casually open a regular MM a drink it. Back to the MM FAE-01, I get a harmonizing blend of a berry, banana, creamy thing that's amazingly seductive and attractive to my palette. But I don't get the toasted barrel thing at all. I've had the Michter's Toasted Barrel before and just last night I was drinking the blenders select Bulleit and the toasted barrel notes were quite noticeable for both of those but I don't get that in this MM, at all. I will continue to buy MM products and hope that one day, I fall in like. But this is amazing, not going to lie.

Me too,, I also actually prefer Larceny over regular MM, at least as a sipper anyway.

I like pretty like much all Maker’s varieties, but to be honest, I didn’t particularly care for the FAE-01. The nose was interesting, but I found it hot, woody, and a bit dry and tannic too. I found a new home for it. Biba! Joe

I have been wanting to try it, just didn't want to pay +$60 and find out I didn't like it. I thought $31 OTD was a fair price to give this try. Not sure when I will open it, got a full cabinet still. Seems like just yesterday I was on a mission to kill some bottles to make room for some new ones. Now there is no room once again. Alright on the Yuengling, Pottsville represent! PhantomLamb
I've never actually seen that version of Yuengling, that's incredible. Bringing it back to bourbon, my favorite is taking a shot of good bottom shelf bourbon (i.e. HH white label or FRYL) into a Yuengling Black and Tan, makes a wonderful Boilermaker. jnewberg
Grabbed 2 more Bardstown Disc #4... I absolutely love it and the OG bottle is going too fast
TehRegion219
EC SiB, picked by Heaven Hill. Anyone ever try one similar? Seems weird but maybe it’s a super secret honey barrel?? One can only hope. I picked it up at the meijer back home. Somebody left it for the next guy, only one left in a giant empty hole on the shelf. I actually started looking behind other bottles to see if anyone stashed a bottle to come back for.

I've had some KCSB that were selected for Meijer (with a little silver tag). I thought those were pretty good. Then again, even the regular KCSB always seem good to me. With all the common stuff the grocery chains are moving in great volume nowadays, they should be being offered some spectacular single barrel selections.

I recall having had Meijer single barrels of Four Roses and EWSB several years ago. They seem to have single barrels of WR and WR Rye that are specifically selected for Meijer. Notice I didn't say selected by Meijer. On the local front, Market District in Carmel has several barrel selections that they pick. I don't believe they go to the distilleries but are sent samples. They seem to do a good job with barrel selections. I just find their prices high compared to other grocery retailers. For those in Ohio and Pennsylvania, Market District is a Giant Eagle store. Some great stuff there. I rarely drink scotch anymore, but do love the Yamazaki. Is it just the perspective but the one on the left looks larger than the one on the right. Also different boxes??
