What bourbon did you purchase today (Summer 2021)

I got this bottle as a gift.  While I don't usually drink Woodford, I am looking forward to trying the Double Oaked for the first time.  I wonder if its as oaky as EC18??  I hope not.

I'll go out on a limb and say, not even close. The double oak brings an intensity on the sweet oak profile. The EC18 is oak-instein but fine if the mood fits. I had a store pick that was better than the shelf DO and actually way better than the 1910.

I'm willing to bet that this will become a better gift than you 1st presumed...

Picked 2 ECs on sale for $22 OTD and a WT101 handle for $36 OTD. Coast guard exchange never disappoints for daily drinkers.

Y’all might find this a little hard to believe. I just read a report, purportedly verified by the local police department, that there was an armed robbery at the store where we shopped and I bought the BT’s. It happened just a few minutes after we left.  Nice timing huh?

How about if the robbers forced the employees to get all the hidden allocated items from the back, then at gunpoint sell everything at MSRP, and give a receipt too.

This morning’s acquisitions. No super special bottles (not for lack of looking just didn’t find any), just solid pours that are always open on my bar. Several of these we have emptied bottles in the last month and with a crowd of people coming over tomorrow, they needed replenishing.

Mine’s a 40 proofer too - picked it up at Party Source back in June. It still brings the flavor, big time. I think you’ll be just fine, amigo.

I respectfully disagree!  They are all special.  Especially as you will be sharing the contents with others.  Bourbon, family, friends, gatherings...makes them special.  Enjoy!

as far as I can tell 40% is all my state received.  I've now 8 40% bottles.  All have robust flavor which more than compensates for the lower proof.

Bowman not always easy to find outside virginia.  bowman is consistently good product.  many areas not seeing any dickel BIB so it's sort of rarity depending on where you are.  AND OMG!  WT 101 handle!  That's always special and will stay special for good while unless a lot of good buddies show up to help you with it.

I mentioned this in another thread but thought I would put it in the purchase thread as there aren’t any categories I can find for this. With a lifetime supply of bourbon/rye standards  bunkered, I am focusing purchases on “different” pours. The majors are certainly putting out examples and certain crafties are introducing heritage grains, experimental recipes, vintage barreling proofs...If something looks promising, i.e. different but GOOD, I’m interested. The AD Laws Centennial wheat fit the bill. Decent age, unique to them heirloom grain, 100% wheat mashbill ( I’ve not yet had a wheat whiskey, wheated yes, but wheat? not yet). The issue was price, 82.00 OTD, that is rich for my blood. Fortunately a friend was up for a bottle split. I think I’ll do more of these as there are many interesting bottles coming on line and like many I certainly don’t NEED anymore LOL! The escalation in pricing and the gallons of tater bait only months old and priced like a BTAC on secondary may have jaded me but I remain an enthusiast and as interested in ever in discovering delicious new whiskey flavors. While my taste is still severely impaired, the small sample I had of this Laws Wheat certainly seems to qualify as a win, especially at 40 vs. 80.

I drove off the island to fill up my tank at a cheaper place for gas and ended up hitting three liquor stores and picking up one bottle at each.    Canal's had a good price on Statesman to replace the bottle I just killed making StatesLaddies.   Next was Bootlegger's where they graced me with a bottle of Smoke Wagon Small Batch,  which just might be the easiest drinker on my shelf these days.   Finally circled back to Circle Liquors where I escorted from their clutches their last bottle of BT Kosher Rye Recipe.   A bit more proof and age that regular BT,  which is scarce in these parts anyway.   It's what I'm sipping now waiting for the rain to stop.   If it keeps raining,  eh, no problem.

Correction. The local news stations finally reported on this. The armed robbery actually occurred at another store just behind where we were at. Long story which I’ll spare y’all from. Slightly different address, but still scary and a bit too close for comfort.
