Those can be quite tasty. Cheers!

Long time Jack!  Hope life's treating you well!

Back on topic, and back to the dimpled OF86 on this lovely Saturday evening.

At first, I thought that was a punch bowl and I thought good times will be had. 😀  But, then I realized it was great photography.  Yet, good times will still be had.

Watching Somebody Feed Phil.  I guess he is hungry. It is sort of entertaining.  After a day of deck staining, anything is entertaining as long as I am off my feet and have a pour of bourbon in my glass.  Oh wait, my glass is empty.  Time for another pour.  The pour tonight is Woodinville.  Back to the simple because it is enjoyable.

I took my daughter to the movies today to see sonic 2. Afterwards she wanted shrimp on a salad. So we headed over to the local outback. It has really gone downhill. When I asked what the rye selection was I was told there was none. Cheap scotch, cheap irish, jd, jb, and makers mark. I had a double of mm with my mediocre steak. My daughter enjoyed her day a lot. And I had a reminder that sometimes a wheated bourbon can be pretty good.

Sometimes its not the meal but the company.  I would have loved a day at McDonald's with my kids but one is 31 and the other is soon to be 25 so my day was spent staining the deck.  Outback has declined from its glory days.  I don't go Outback where I live but I do occasionally hit one close to my corporate office in another city. That Outback has KC9 and WT101 with healthy pours.  If MM was my only choice, I would also probably go with a double.

OF 100 after watching a Vincent Price movie on Me TV.  Does anyone else here watch Sven.  He shows some crazy stuff.

Now I'll rant on something only Hoosiers know so well - Indy 500 local TV blackout. 🤬

Hey, want to know one reason NASCAR got more popular than open wheel racing - every NASCAR race is televised.

People that buy tickets for the 500 want the whole experience of attending.  Television won't keep them away.

Putting it on TV would sell a lot of expensive commercials, plus generate interest in new fans. 💡

Can confirm. Had a miserable wet day and an evening of plain old JD with an oooold pilot friend from the other end of the world who was stopping by Logan International. Best night in recent memory.

Riegers Kansas City Whiskey during (yes, during) martial arts practice with a friend.  It was a gift a client brought me from over that way.  I like it sweet and the port in it made it so.  Pleasant.

Bookers 2016-06 with an ice cube while watching Stranger Things (sooo evocative of my teenage years, and not by accident.  Well, minus the monsters & stuff) with the Wifey and eldest daughter who has been visiting PR for a month.  I like that particular batch of Bookers quite a bit.  Only about 20% left in that bottle, sad face.

Fun day.

I recall that Noe Hard Times was an excellent Booker's batch.  Wish I'd stocked up when it was $55 and sitting on the shelf at BevMo.  I figured there would always be another great batch at a good price and that it would always be available.  Sadly, none of that is true anymore...

Had a friend over who loves whiskey in general.  Shared the Bookers 2016-06 and HM10.  He liked both and really, really went for the HM10.

Started Sunday watching race day with a pour of '19 GTS for the last half of F1 and the start of the 500. Ended the 500 with some KCSB. Break time for dinner and then off for the next pour to start the 600 here in a little bit!

Deck railing are 80% primed and 40% with the finish coat.  A great and beautiful day with the wife.
Kicking back with a glass of WSR and a sense of satisfaction.

FRYL freezer bottle with grilled chicken shish kabobs on the deck.  Perfect on a warm sunny day for dinner.  Followed up with Friendly's vanilla ice cream with Rattlesnake Rosie's Apple Pie whiskey.  What a GREAT night!   Yummo.  😋

I spent too much time in the sun and fell asleep not long after the dog was walked.   Of course,  now I'm up in the wee hours.   The stars are out,  there's dew in the air.   Old Patrero tastes good;   I'm glad I still have an inch of this left.

Say what? Did the race not sell out or is this a usual thing?

Sipping on a MM 46 CS, maybe more, sitting out on patio waiting for game 7 of Rangers/Hurricanes. Fire going in the Solo Stove. 5644CB0E-B2EC-4742-BA4C-1C995E591B4B.thumb.jpeg.c7a3d8bb9738c08766526fd72b2b8973.jpegGame start 8p EST. Maybe I’ll eat dinner, maybe not.

Grilled prime sirloin tip steaks marinated in Korean kalbi sauce for over 4 hours, cooked to a perfect medium rare minus, stir-fried shitake mushrooms with nappa cabbage and bok choy and carrots, and GW4G  to stand up to the kabli steak strips.  What a perfect combination for a warm summer's eve with NO Celtics game tonite (whew!).  Might have to have a vanilla ice cream treat with Rattlesnake Rosie's Maple Bacon whiskey.  Too bad the Red Sox starting pitching bites the BIG ONE!  😡

WSR in the glass again.
Spent the day painting.  Primer at 95% (I’ve got to get a little creative at one area that is 9’ off the ground but the spindle are blocked on the inside by a smoker box I built).  The finishing painting is at 80%.  With a little luck, all finished tomorrow.

The weather is supposed to cooperate.

It has always been blacked out in Indy except during Covid.  I heard this was the largest crowd in 20 years but I don't believe the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ever releases the actual attendance. They usually say something like "greater than 300,000."  It is probably impossible to totally sell out since there is plenty of room in the "Snake Pit" for b...bs and beer.

I agree with @PaulO.  There is no reason to squeeze every single dollar out of the local populace many of whom support racing events at IMS throughout the summer and many of whom have to put up with a significant influx of traffic and out-of-town visitors.  Often, locals who don't attend the race stay home most of the weekend except for brief errands.  Most restaurants on the westside of Indy are packed.  I live close to Brownsburg which is 12 miles from IMS.  Traffic was crazy this weekend as many of the teams have year-round shops in Brownsburg.  The IMS could throw the locals a bone for their support by televising the event.

Awesome!  We stained our deck this weekend so I have been following your progress.  In the past we painted but we replaced our deck last year.  We decided to stain this deck.  Oh boy, I have stained doors, woodwork, and stairs but a deck.  Nope.  Much more than I expected, especially in the hot sun.  I thought it would be a 2 day project but it has turned into 4 days and counting.  The delay was similar to yours.  A pergola.  That darn thing was a nightmare.  But, it is done.  Now, just a second coat of stain on the deck and railings.  But, that is for another dry weekend.

Best wishes on finishing your deck.  Once completed, I am sure you will be enjoy plenty of meals and bourbon on it.

Similar to you, I am repeating my pours because as I am tired simple is the best option.  Woodinville 90 proof.  Simple pour but always enjoyable.
