What rye are you drinking/ purchased 2023

I'm having one of my favorites, Old Forester Rye, and from a liter bottle too.

Recently I went to a big grocery store sale and picked up Pikesville and KC Rye 7 year old.

I've never tried the KC Rye before.  I really liked the OO B.I.B., so this should be the same juice, except a few more years in the barrel.

Last open bottle of James Pepper rye, or last bottle of everything?

I love the OF liter bottles.

And a big fan of KC Rye.  I don't know why but I didn't think OO was the same mash bill as KC rye, but you are probably right. I think I was confusing OO Rye with the OGD bourbon Beam mash bill being different than the other Beam bourbon mash bills.

I have an OO BiB Rye bottle that I've never opened.  I guess I should get around to that to compare myself!

If I recall correctly, Beam has one rye whiskey recipe.  Jim Beam Rye, Old Overholt, KC Rye in their different variations start as the same.  From there it's different ages and how proof it down to bottle and so on.

That sounds right.  With the obscure but notable exception of the unicorn Booker's Rye which was said to be a unique rye mash bill.  I recall hearing there was going to be a new release of some Beam rye using that Booker's mash bill, but I never heard that it actually was released.

Booker’s Rye was the shit. I still have part of a bottle hidden away. Might need to find an excuse to pull that out soon

Last open bottle of anything. I have quite a few on deck, but have been on a mission  to drink my opens for a couple of years now. I'll probably meet that goal later today. I actually have 2 bottles of the px sherry cask pepper 100 proofs bunkered. But that is the last of the 92 proof oloroso cask.

The HW Midwinter made a welcome return to my liquor cabinet of open bottles.  This one is Act 5, scene 5.

It really hit the spot.  But this '17 THH is just another notch above.  Love it.

Yup.   THH has yet to disappoint my taste buddies.   Always a winner!  ...Not that I've that many bottles, 4-if memory serves (and my memory is not necessarily that reliable any more; I may have had 10, or 1... Ha!).

Gosh.  What I wouldn’t give for another ’17 THH.

That stuff was fantastic!

Probably my second favorite release period.

Similar to Minor Case Rye in any way? Both aged in sherry casks. I have a soft spot for the minor case

I finally landed my white whale😃

One of my favorite LS got a case of it this morning.

I'll definitely crack one open tonight 😎

Thanks!

They had 4 bottles. I asked the owner to check to see if they had different releases and he kindly obliged.

The tentative plan is to do a SBS in the future.
