What rye are you drinking/ purchased 2023

Fall, rainy and overcast day in the low 60’s, feels like rye.  WT101 rye in a glass neat.  The wife is watching Practical Magic, seems appropriate.

While WTR101 is good on a hot humid 90 degree summer day, it is stellar on a fall, rainy and overcast day with a cool breeze.  I have been stocking up on rye and barrel proof bourbon for the winter.  I guess I am like a squirrel that way.  They stock up on nuts.  I stock up on whiskey because I am nuts.

A 50/50 blend of WT101 rye and WTRB rye during a bottle kill.

Cheap Bastard sees a few drops still in the bottle.  Waste not, want not!

I opened a new OF Rye 100 tonight to drown my sorrows of another close Colts loss.  That and to forget my trip to Lowe's earlier today.  My wife has started calling me Otto after the Tom Hanks character in A Man Called Otto.  I only needed 5 grounding pigtails but I had to buy a package of 25!  I needed to buy a range hood light bulb.  But, not Lowe's.  Theirs was $5.  She made me buy it.  I got home and googled it and everyone and their brother sells them for $2-3.  I am taking it back at lunch  tomorrow.  😜

One more pour tonight and I will hopefully forget the typical Monday Sh..show that awaits me in the morning.

I  worked in the yard most of the day yesterday..

I had a blower belt fail on the bagger for the mower.  Not a big deal but it took about 1 & 1/2 hour to change out.  Luckily I had a spare in the shed.
Afterwards, I needed something Fall-like.  I dug around the back of the bar and found a MWND  (Act 5/Scene 3).  Definitely what was needed.  Dinner NDP two pours later, I’m asleep on the couch.

Sticking with the rye this evening.  WaT 101 rye over ice on the deck.  It is a beautiful warm and sunny Fall evening.  The leaves have not recovered the yard yet and my neighbors two little daughter are running around  yelling and squealing!  Life in the suburbs is good.  Cheers!

I am really impressed with the 6 year malted rye that I purchased.  The Balboa is not available in Texas (yet anyway) but I am curious about it because I've seen good feedback on it.

Great idea!  I keep forgetting to try this home blend myself.  Thanks for the reminder.  With cooler weather coming soon in my area, I will start sipping on more rye whiskey soon.

Rainy and overcast day.  Perfect for inside work.  New Riff Balboa rye in the glass while we carve pumpkins for Tuesday.

I bough.gt a bottle of 'Last Feather Rye' yesterday from my monger.    It's his private pick from a small in-state (Michigan) distillery (Journeyman), and weighs in at 119.1-proof.    I was able to have a sample before pulling te trigger, so I have some idea what's in the bottle.     The nose is like walking into a working cookie factory.    The palate was (at that tasting) similar and pretty full-bodied; but, a single taste is never adequate, of course.   ...Not sure if the taste-buddies were having a good, bad or indifferent day.       I intend to save it for the Holidays when my baby boy will visit.

Anybody have experience with this distillate?   ....Or this distillery?  Location: Three Oaks Michigan, in the 'Historic Featherbone Building' (whatever that is); touts its 3-Organic Certifications (USDA, MOSA and Kosher) for what that may be worth.

Another one that did not make it's way to Europe yet, unfortunately!

I have a few different proof versions of the special release of this from a couple years ago and in my experience there is some truth to what you may have heard.

Time to pull out the old wedding anniversary bottle again.

I think we accidentally forgot last year, so extra pours tonight. 🥃

I have no idea what that is, but it looks quite rare and a special whiskey.  Enjoy -- and happy anniversary!
