I saw somebody mention (perhaps more than once) that WT 101 is an appropriate reward for yard work. I cut down and hauled an a$$load of buckthorn to the recycling yard, mowed the lawn and trimmed. I will be visiting the flock tonight. Gobble.

markandrex
Cut the grass and did some yard work today. Thinking of some hot dogs on the grill for dinner. In the mean time, some ER in the glass on the deck. Cheers all!
markandrex
What pairs well with hot dogs? Oh, I know, EHT SmB !
IamMatt
Finished a sample of Frank August that I won at a bottle share and couldn't decide what next. I blended some 4R SiB with some Rebel 100. It's not bad. I may play with the proportions. The softness of the Rebel's wheat tones down the 4R rye spice. This has potential. Oh, and kraut goes with hot dogs, lol.

bayouredd
Started Friday Yaaay-Day with a celebratory Rabbit Hole Heigold. It was the last pour of a Christmas gift from my Youngest, whom also just texted last night of his marriage proposal to his Honey. We like her, mucho... 2nd pour, BBC Wheater. This is very nice; sweet with a dusty-oak backend. Moderate finish. but a plethora of flavors on palate from front to back...

mbroo5880i
Started with Heavens Door 14 Year Old Finished in Caribbean Rum Cask. It was a gift and I enjoyed the pour. Dickel with a strong fruity rum influence. It drinks well below its 114 proof. Moved onto a few pours of KCSiB Meijer Store Selection. It seems to be a step above the standard KCSiB 120. But, what do I know? I think water from a bottle is a step above water from the faucet which is a step above water from a garden hose which is a step above water in the puddles in my yard. It is all relative. Stay thirsty my friend.
Harry in WashDC
Helped wife clean out a kitchen cabinet and dispose of REALLY old food. THEN! Decanted a one liter OGD BIB and sipped the dregs that would not fit in the 800 ml decanter. THEN! Inventoried an upper shelf in the utility room so that cleaning it out next weekend goes smoothly. It just happens to be where I stashed a dozen or so bourbons. Pulled down a slightly dusty JB Distiller's Cut. I hadn't had this in awhile and had forgotten how spicy and NON-peanutty this is (label says 100 proof, aged 5-6 years). Beam really ought to stop screwing around with its 6-8 YO 100 proof (+or- a few per cent) distillate and keep pumping it out there. If they want to build a following for an expression, they ought to KEEP the release out there for more than three or four months. Just this sot's opinion, of course. I only spend a couple thousand a year on bourbon, so ignore me, you marketing dolts. AND, while I was sipping on this JBDC and watching Los Nationales play Las Serpientes in Arizona (score tied 1-1), for some reason I had a desire to listen to Winton Marsalis's version of Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. Wife and I were in New Orleans years ago and wandered into his playing this. SO! Tonight I went searching and found SEVERAL renditions that merit listening on You Tube - Winton's of course but also George Winston's piano (2009), and a European release titled "Baroque Dance" with people in costume dancing to it, AND a Chinese PenYang (spelling -0.1 EDIT NANYANG) rendition that combined traditional and then jazz. I missed two innings of nonaction - score is STILL 1-1. JB DC is down only about an inch. But, it is early yet. Just spent $1800 to have ALL the sound proofing pulled out of my 2015 Jeep Latitude 4WD to remove the dead squirrel. Put the "hidden" bottles in the recycle shopping bag stash. before I turned the Jeep in. ASIDE -- Wife says, "OMG you got a lot of recycle grocery bags; this is REALLY HEAVY!!" Did not tell her why. One OG BIB and one Wild Trail special release in there. (Another ASIDE - As I type this, a cello is playing loud enough in my ear to overcome my tinnitiis so I can hear MORE Pachelbel Canto. NOW, is London Philharmonic. Is good thing I not fixated on Wagner tpnight or you all have BLOOD on your faces.}
