Had to go out and pay a couple of bills today. First stop, Allstate to review and renew our auto policy.  💰 Second stop, Comcast/Xfinity. 💵 We’ve been approved for a $30.00 monthly discount, but for some reason they can’t get it applied to our account. I’ve been screwing with this for over three months now with one employee, and three managers. Worked with one employee and two managers today. I was there for over a hour, and it’s still not resolved yet. Gotta make a call to ACP tomorrow because it looks like they applied our discount to something other than our internet. So, after spending a crap ton of money today, my wife asked if I needed to stop at Binny’s. 😮 Who was I to argue? Besides, we were just down the street. 😁 The MM family sized are on sale for $39.99, plus you get a can of nuts for a 1¢. I bought one. They had ER for $39.99. I haven’t seen ER for a while, so I bought one  of those too. Yes, the MM was dipped by my gal at the distillery. And much to my surprise, the ER was a store pick. 😎 My experience at Binny’s didn’t make up for things earlier in the day, but it did help soften the blow a little.

Your elf buddy looks to be worn out.  The guy in the hat next him looks a little tipsy.  😃

Comcast has to be the WORST cable provider ever! Millons have them and hate the pisspoor service but most of the time have no other reasonable choice to a competitor's service. OK back on point I also snagged another ER for the bunker.

I can't recall seeing a Weller in the round shaped 375 mL size before so I went ahead and picked one up.

2nd one from the left in the photo.  Of course I included the whole lineup for scale 😁

Sometimes is better to be lucky than persistent.  Went into a basic store yesterday to buy a couple M&R sweet vermouths to take on a short trip.  Clerk had a big box on a hand cart and was setting up a display of 750s - one Blanton's @ $64, a dozen ER @ $42, and a dozen basic BT @ $28.  Limit was one bottle per customer.  I decided on a BT as I have "some" Blanton's and ER collecting dust on an upper shelf but am short of BT which I love to drink in the Summer.  The joy on the face of the guy behiod me when I picked up the BT which meant he got the Blanton's was worth the pass.

Triple Bourbon Karma Points for that, Harry.  👍🏻  And, the triple points get super sized further to 10X because you did it not because you were trying to help anyone, or be a nice guy.  You did it because you knew the gambit, and you simply wanted the BT!  Glorious!!! 😇

Nice little haul today.  Got the Turkey on a trade so not technically a purchase.  Wanted something special to open next week for a big birthday I’ve got coming up.   Heard good things.  Cheers y’all.

Haha true we are flush with WSR but mostly 750 and 1.75 bottles with a few 1 liter sized thrown in.  The little pint size was new to me.

Nothing wrong with the BT pick, if that's what you wanted, but I would have wavered on not getting the Blanton's for under $65...

Not because it is the ultimate bourbon, but it is probably is the ultimate gift, for the novice. I'm sure that I have gifted more Blanton's than I have consumed and I have a B-I-L that still mentions the 'B' that I gave him 5 years ago for his retirement. Also gifted to all 4 of my kids, several birthdays and maybe more.

If I was young & single, I'm sure that I could get some 'strange' with a Blanton's & that's cheaper than dancing & dinner... 😜

Got to admit, I did waiver a little on the Blanton's which, like you, I have gifted as much or more than I've consumed over the last few years - it's a GREAT way to introduce newbies to bourbon beyond the bottom shelf and for its own sake.  BUT, I'd been sort of picking it up when I'd seen it so have "some" on hand and been fortunate in getting tips (THANKS AGAIN, GEETEN, for the Richmond ABC head's up on Blanton's grenades, ALL of which have now been gifted).  Living in Wash DC, I'm close enough to Virginia that I can sprint across the Potomac when I get "Virginia ABC DROP" notices and hit the Arlington stores.  WHICH may be a reason I told my wife I was going to get some vermouth in Virginia.B)

Blanton's is a good pour to have around for company.  I mention it as an option and find it among the preferred pours.  It has name recognition.  I often follow up to see if they would like to try a pour of something that is similar as a high rye bourbon yet more consistent as a batched bourbon.  Normally, OGDBIB or New Riff.  They often enjoy the latter two equally as well as Blanton's and are surprised by the price and availability.

I have a close friend who's father was a professor at Purdue University. His father would have a pour of OGD every night after work for decades. My friend loves Blanton's. I told him to buy a bottle of OGD BIB and give it a try.  He thought it was an old man's bourbon.  Of course, we are both old men now so I guess it is. 😮  He prefers it to Blanton's and has turned many of his high society neighbors (he lives in a gated community in Savannah) onto it.

I am drinking New Riff tonight. Honestly, every aspect of this pour is superior to the last few bottles of Blanton's I have had.  Nose, taste, proof, price.  This said, I would still buy a bottle of Blanton's on sight at MSRP because it is difficult to find and is a decent enough pour in and of itself.  If I rated the 3, I believe BT is at the top of its game now.  However, it is readily available in Indy.  So, I would grab Blanton's or ER, if all three or available. The last few bottles of ER, even @$30, weren't that good but I still grab one when I see it because people like to try it.

I picked up at bottle of MMCS @ $34.99 and two bottles of New Riff on clearance @ $30.11 each.  Nothing exotic but enjoyable.

I purchased a MMCS 375 ml at Binny's for $34.99 when it first came out.  It didn't show up in Indy until months later and then only in 375 ml bottles for the same price.  I remember driving across town in Indy to pick up a couple at Kahn's.

20230701_163940.thumb.jpg.61076a300ddff044d09f688410c46606.jpgWe had to take a quick run to Nashville this morning, so on the way home we stopped at a few of the stores where we seem to always find something interesting.

Today the score was the JDBP rye.

The Henry McKenna was only a buy as it was a birthday barrel.

I have been finding that Russel's Reserve Single Barrel is on a slow upward price creep lately.  Did a little recon and made some calls/visits.  Found some at $50 and bought a few.  This stuff seems to kinda come and go in waves around here. I talked to one of the guys at the liquor store closest to me (where I like to spend most of my booze budget), and he said they only get it when the distributor decides to "bless them with a few bottles."

This should worry me enough to stock up more substantially, but I must admit it's a helluva lot easier to stay in the good graces of my significant other when I bring home multiples of 20 to 30 dollar range whiskey.

Picked up 2 EC SiB that I was part of the store pick barrel. Really good and in 6 months have sold 135 bottles ! Small LS in eastern Long Island. Also they had put aside a 2023 Bombergers for me. Pricey, but usually very, very good. I have to stop celebrating my Birthday with expensive purchases, last week got a bottle of Blanton's Gold and 3 MM BEP all in the name of my Birthday!!!

Stopped in for some 4th of July beer & was stoked to stumble on this. Will try it tonight to see if I need to add a couple bottles.

Sure hope I'm not disappointed. Anyone know how to get an age on this? The only number I see in glass is 3214. Color of the juice would suggest that there is no way it's a 9 year old.

Trust me.  You only want to celebrate one birthday per year.  Of course, you can find other events to celebrate like Kite Flying Day.

Larceny Barrel Proof B523.  I'm a LBP fan in general, but this one is outstanding.  It's getting a lot of hype and deservedly so.

For various reasons, we were out and about again today. Since @flahute picked ER as the BOTM, and since we were once again near Binny’s, I decided to take a chance. Glad I did. They still had a couple of bottles of ER left. They grabbed one for me, and as I checked out, another person got the last one. Every once in a while. 🤞
