Will have another one with Anwalt this weekend, as I assume he wants to taste it (and probably a lot more) I spy a bottle of Guckenheimer. That particular brand was my 15 year old idiot self's introduction to whiskey. The story ends with me getting grounded for two weeks. Yes, Mom and Pop did have a sense of smell, I discovered. This was 1983, and I have to imagine by the ease with which my friend procured the bottle that the brand was roughly the equivalent of what Old Crow is today. Is there a story behind that bottle? Is there a story behind that bottle? there is, but nothing really historical, I am afraid. I got it in an auction, together with another old blended, a Philadelphia, for the ridiculous amount of 15 euros. It shipped from Italy, so paid 35 euros for shipping, then still totals at 50 euros and that is crazy low for a 1968 Guckenheimer and a 1971 Philadelphia. Got lucky, hunting dusties!

markandrex
Having some MM BU 1-3 from several years ago. I ended up with about 6 bottles of this due to several trips to Loretto with friends and family back in 2018. https://www.gobourbon.com/makers-mark-announces-limited-release-seared-bu-1-3-bourbon/

Saw it today at what I think is, or near MSRP. It is really, really, good. Heavy and full mouthfeel, and a wonderful Bit-o-Honey candy note over the palate. . This is a stupendous barrel. Could I trouble you for the warehouse? It appears to be CN F but not 100% sure. I haven’t had nor heard of a meh CN F so just confirming this one’s another hitter. StarSurfer55
So I emptied my bottle of Weller SR and went looking for another. You can’t find it in Michigan so I ordered online. Saw that they also had Jefferson Tropics. So I got a bottle of that as well. In the past few years I have begun to explore the Texas bourbons. The effect of the heat really brings out some flavors that I enjoy. Been drinking some of the TX products which are good drinkers (the blended whiskey smells like cupcakes) and I have a couple of Balcones that I like. So I was attracted to the Jefferson Tropics based on the aging in Singapore. It is good but with classic bourbon flavors. My only criticism is that it drinks hotter than the proof which in my brain comes across as young. Having never tried the Jefferson Ocean I don’t have that as a cross reference.

Skinsfan1311
Moving up the high rye bourbon ladder. This is unbelievably good and scary, because it drinks way below its proof.
mbroo5880i
I just had my annual physical. I have not reviewed the lab test results with my doctor yet as they just came out this morning. My son, who is a doctor, reviewed them and told me she will probably recommend a better diet, more exercise, and less bourbon. All I heard was "less bourbon." After crying hysterically for a while, he said "less" not "no." I cried some more. Then I rationalized that I can just reduce my carbs by not eating as many donuts. After a couple of pours of KC9, it seems like a reasonable plan to me.

Years ago, I changed my diet, (cut way back on fats), and ramped up my workouts, (more cardio), lost 40lbs,(kept it off), and drink as much whiskey as I want You can do it.

Kepler
I like JMCB batch #7 better than my previous bottle (batch 9 I think it was). What a nice pour. To close out the night, I'm having Small Batch from the Colonel (Col. EH Taylor that is).
Clueby
Ninety degrees on Oct. 1. Not sure this should go in the "Fall" thread but having a WRDO. A friend found some on sale for 29.99. It's been a while since I've had this but this stuff is delicious. Slight hint of citrus/orange.

flahute
On Saturday I had a couple very healthy pours of Bulleit while watching U2 at the newly opened Sphere in Las Vegas. It’s truly remarkable.
fishnbowljoe
I had a pour of Jefferson’s Reserve earlier at the Legion. Wasn’t gonna have anything else tonight, but I had a glitch with my iMac. A nice lady at Apple Support helped me fix it. Soooooo, a nice pour of MM in the glass now.
