Fresh crack.

Don't let the glass fool you.

This is the only whiskey that I really like from WR

WR Rye is underrated.  I actually prefer it and WR Wheat over WR Bourbon.  WR Bourbon is fine just nothing special.

Agreed.

I've never tried, or looked for the wheated, but I'd probably buy one if I see it on the shelf....if the price was right 😁

Rittenhouse is the top pour around here if volume consumed is the indicator. But wt101 rye is sure giving it a run for it's money this year.

I'm trying to guess at the cocktail being made here, but I can't quite put my finger on it.  Perhaps the olive oil is throwing me off.

I was gifted one for Christmas a few years ago.  They let me pick between the bourbon and the wheat.  I thought "well, I never tried that one before and free makes it a no brainer."  Prior to that I had only tried two wheat whiskey.  Bernheim which at 7 years old was too hot and unbalanced at 90 proof and Backbone Wheat at 4 years old which was smooth and well balanced at 120 proof. 😀

JD BiB in the,  (gulp!), same glass.

I am using the same glass (well, not yours but a WR glass) and changing bourbons.  By the second pour, I am not certain I would have identified potential profile impacts.  But, now on my third pour, I am certain that I would not identify any profile impacts. 😀 I can tell the difference between the first two pours Kirkland 1792 BIB and the third pour, KC SiB because both profiles are different but the effect of using the same glass seems neglible to me.  😀  All TIC, of course.

Backbone is another underrated whiskey.

I have a barrel proof pick that is amazing.

Blah...blah....blah....we're both just too lazy to grab another glass...😂

2014 is the best THH.  No contest for me.  The Bookers is ok too.

Need a new drinking friend?

🤤

Those are both great, and so different from each other, which is what makes it fun.

I’m the type to share for sure, although there don’t seem to be many other SB members around my area unfortunately. Just me and @Bbstout holding down the fort around here

PHC 10y CS. WOW! This is very good. Viscous, weeping flavor. It does have a pleasant nutty finish reminiscent of Beam.

I'm having Ritt B.I.B. after quite a week of no adult beverages.  I drove over 100 miles one way to OH to buy a car I found online.  The family came too, and we made time for sight seeing and fun.  Anyway, mission accomplished.  🥳  For some reason, car market around Indy sucks.  Drive to KY or OH for selection and prices.

My glencairn must have a small pin hole in the bottom of it because that Redemption drained out rather quickly.   Quick, better refill it with something to test for leaks.

Kentucky Owl batch 2 should do nicely.  For science.

Opened up WT101R. I have enjoyed this expression quite a few times, but this is my first bottle for my bar.

I have sung the praises of WT101 many times, the 101 Rye makes a perfect mirror whiskey to  the 101 bourbon. Great flavor, versatile, at a very fair price point.

Cheers

I enjoyed the WT101R so much, I had to try the WTMK Cornerstone. More age, more refinement, deeper than an Oklahoma spring-fed well. For tonight though, the WT101 Rue hits all of the notes. So back to the WT101R

I go. (I should’ve listened to my brother.)

Cheers

Continuing on the love for the wt101r. I finished my bottle I took to vacation and back, so today I went to the store, purchased another, and am sipping on it as I type this.

A day late but I hit the rye tonight.  Hard Truth High Road Rye.  A solid 93 proofer.

Having a weekday pour. 138.2 on this bad boy. So far I think I like the lower proof bottles I've had a bit more. This one drinks a bit hot.

Agreed, I have 2 and prefer the lower proof of the pair. That said both are very nice whiskies but I'm going to ration that lower proof bottle, its REALLY good.

How are you liking this bottle?  I bought one several years ago, and while I liked the idea of the whiskey that DH was/is chasing, my bottle did not catch my fancy.  Of course, it was an early release, so guessing more age and scale might make it better.  Come on!  Gimme a good review so I can go spend more money on whiskey!!😂

Of course, I’ll still spend more money on more whiskey, anyway.  But, you control if that will be on this whiskey…😁

I had a similar experience and was looking forward to another with added age but they no longer distribute in GA. Maybe I'll spot one when travelling, better yet if they offer tasting first, in fact, I'll need that to pull the trigger.

Between WT Rare Breed Rye and JDSB Rye, which do folks recommend?

I recommend at least 1 of each.
