Thomm
Yeah, I know it's the basement wall. I'm gonna be hanging sheetrock down there soon, so I thought I might need a companion. Too bad I have to buy my friends. This is such an easy-going rye. The flavors are there, they just come at you at an even keel. I tend to shy away from the overused "drinks below its proof," but this one fits that description for me.
Anwalt
Haven't had Pikesville for a while. Fixed that, early today on Fryeday. I like it, quite a bit. I'd like to compare to others in the same rage. Another win for my beloved Heaven Hill.
markandrex
I have an old KC SP rye in the glass to kickstart Fryeday after visiting the eye doctor. I’m getting old so time for corrective eye surgery, oh well, at least the palate still works! Cheers!
Mattk
I opened a pikesville today. It is one of the first ones back from its brief hiatus a while back. There is something wrong with this pikesville. The earlier and current batches are all fine, but this bottle is very hot and flavorless. I've checked it a few times over the last week. Other bottles still taste OK, but this one is not good. Has anyone else found a pikesville that matches this description? I'm just going to drain pour this one and open another, as it is typically such a great bottle.

Ironically I just found an off bottle of pikesville, the one I cracked immediately after is good as can be. Thomm
JDSBBP Rye tonight, as I had missed Fryeday yesterday due to a previous engagement with a bottle of Scapegrace Black Gin. Very interesting flavor profile. Quite atypical and the opposite of a juniper-forward gin. But enough about that. The JD is bursting with banana and brown sugar. Liquid banana bread. I know this is a characteristic often found in BF whiskies, but I have never both nosed and tasted it to this degree. I'm really enjoying it. Here's to Satryeday!

MyBrainOnWhiskey
happy fRYEday . OO10 in the glass this evening. I love this stuff . The bottle is only 1/4 full, so it may not be long for this world... but I've got a backup (and a backup to the backup ). The nose on the OO10 is quite interesting. It's effervescent with hints of lemon and mint, but I also get a lot of apple mixed with some grape. When I lived in California in the 90s I remember seeing a hybrid fruit called a "grapple". It looked like an apple but smelled like grapes. The OO10 has some of that going on, but the apple is prominent and the grape sits behind it. I'd characterize the grape as "white grape", not "red grape". I also get cinnamon, which compliments the apples nicely. The longer I nose it the more it turns towards eucalyptus. There is some oak, but no much at all. On the palate, the rye kick hits me right away along with cinnamon, but with no sharp edges. It's warming without being hot. The apple comes through after the spice (sans grape). On the back end I get more mint with some oak. Yum, yum, yummy . The finish is medium-long and somewhat spicy. The apple returns for a final encore as the spice fades out. Edited September 7 by MyBrainOnWhiskey

I'm just going to drain pour this one and open another, as it is typically such a great bottle. I bought a bottle of Pikesville a few months ago and initially didn't like it at all. It had been a few years since my last purchase and it tasted nothing like previous bottles. I was quite disappointed. Rather than give up on it, I decanted the bottle and let it sit for about a month. When I went back for a pour it had improved significantly and I'm enjoying it again. Not saying you shouldn't have dumped it out. With other bottles against which to compare it, you are probably correct that it was a bad bottle. However, it always pains me to hear that whiskey has literally gone down the drain.

I liked it so much that I immediately went out and bought a bottle for myself. I had to overcome the high price but after tasting it I decided it was worth it to me. Now I just need to open my bottle. Btw and FWIW, I think this is the best looking bottle/label design of any new American whiskey product in a long time.
mbroo5880i
Enjoying a nice pour of Hard Truth High Road Rye on a chilly late summer evening. A little pricy for what it is but, even at 93 proof, I really enjoy it. The single barrel cask strength version of this rye is stellar. However, this bottle offers a nice change of pace from some of the rougher and higher proof ryes I normally drink. I also want to support this local distillery as they have several products that I enjoy and they continue to add new offerings.
Richnimrod
Had a nice pour of THH last evening. A bit harsh at first; but: OH! SO Flavorful!!! Added a tablespoon of water, and that was purrrrrfect! Very enjoyable pour! Side note: I decanted about 5-ounces of this bottle a week or so ago (leaving it around half full). To that 5-ounces of THH, I added about a dozen Kona Peaberrry coffee beans. At first, they all floated very high. Every day I'd shake 'em up a little. After a couple days as well as a couple shakes, two of the beans sank to the bottom. After a few more days and a few more shakes, they eventually all sank. I'll give 'em another day or two, then pour out the liquid and reclaim the beans. I'll add them to a bottle of Sambucca that's only about 1/3-full. I c'nardly wait to taste the coffee-infused THH, as well as a short pour of the Sambucca... with a bean or two in the bottom. ...More on this in a few days.....
MyBrainOnWhiskey
I finally found some KC10 on the shelf at a local Publix. This is my very first pour from a brand new bottle, so I'll reserve judgement until I get past the neck and give the juice time top open up. However, the 1st impression is good.

Their bottles are superb; both the glass and the labeling! Truly well-designed and executed, right down to the typefaces, and especially the rendering of the large RYE at the bottom of main label!
